Now the question is...do I have the will power to wait until March 26 (my 50th) to open and wear it?

Yes?

Wait. Just admire it in the box and then put it on when it's your birthday.

Why wait? You know it's there....you can't keep a Rolex in a box like that for another week....it needs to breathe....the metal will start to corrode because of no air circulation....ok But seriously, the moment I get a watch, that box gets demolished....kuddos to you if you can wait another week.

Would be a shame to discover any issues on the day you open it. Best to know in advance.

Not sure who you got it from and what the return policy is but I would open it to a least inspect it. I know as a seller I like to hear from the buyer very soon after receiving that everything is good. You can delay sizing and wearing until your birthday.

Imagine how disappointed you would be if you waited to open it and found a problem. Open now and check it out to make sure everything is OK.

Get a bottle of good tequila, a shot glass. Place near box. Every time you are tempted to open the box, take a shot. Do not open box until bottle is empty. Happy Birthday!
