Don't have a pic, just wondering if it's possible? There's an engraving that I would like to get rid of, and am interested in replacing the back cover...

Depends on how deep the etching is, it maybe possible to polish off the engraving.

Ah of course....I'll take it in to a dealer and check it out, thanks! Any estimations on price of a new backing?

You should ask the Dealer for the price.. That is the only place you can get one easily.... Probably a hundred bucks....

We have a DIY on taking an engraving off the back in the Reference Library..

eBay often lists Rolex backs. I've seen prices all over the place so shop carefully.

A Rolex watchmaker can get you a new (genuine) back from Rolex. He/she just has to send in your back to get a new one, and you'll pay a couple $$$ probably.

As Rik points out, the most economical solution is simply to have the engraving polished off--so long as it's not ridiculously deep, the original back will be fine and it's strength will not be compromised to any worthwhile extent.

Otherwise, +1 to what Vanessa said.

Best,

Adam
