Which is Better?

Really want to buy a Breitling (first one), but torn between the two models.

Which would think is better the better option -- Breitling Navitimer or the Breitling Chronomat? Price wise they both are very close.

Thanks in advance.

Can't go wrong with either. Comes down to personal taste; the Nav is a more vintage look while the chornomat is more modern.

There is no bad choice here. It is all personal preference though I really like the new Chrono.

As others have stated, both are great watches and it really depends what you need in a watch. The chronomat is more robust than the Navitimer. Whatever you do, do not pay msrp!

Chronomat! I own two! I like Navitimers but have always been disappointed in the rough edges of the bezels. Seems like it would be very annoying to have it rub against shirts everyday.

I own both.
I love both.
However, big difference.
Chronomat can be worn care free, to include ocean/pools.
Can’t do that with a Navitimer.
My first purchase was the Navitimer and the Chronomat came two years later.

If you want to wear it in the water, chronomat. Resale is likely stronger with a navi.

My three. I purposely leave the Navitimer on leather because of the look but more importantly to remind me not to go in the water.

Chronomat is a bullet proof chronograph. My LE Blackbird is my everyday watch and it can take anything I throw at it from vibrations to water sports.

The Navitimer is more classic and the quintessential Breitling but the new Chronomats are nice too and probably better choice if you're going to be around water and are a bit harder on your watches.

Am looking at a new Navitimer, what is the problem with going in water? Hotel and gym pool, sauna, spa etc.

Thanks

I wouldn't do any of that in a navitimer.. It's supposed to be an aviation watch and isn't designed for all weather. It is good for a splash of water but no heavy water activity (ex: pool, swimming, etc.). I am sure some one else with much more experience will chime in.

OP: if you do decide to stick with Navitimer.. check out the limited edition baby I got in "for sale" section

I prefer the Navitimer. It has a lot going on but I think that is part of the appeal.

Trust me... I love the watch for what it is and the way it looks ! not because I am a Pilot. It’s a total coincidence !

Love blue dial Navitimer, or white dial. If Chronomat, I would choose the in-house movement with 70 hrs power reserve.

I have owned both, and would go with the Navi. The Navi is an icon, while the chronomat is nice but is far removed from its chronomat ancestors. Also Navi is more versatile with bracelet and strap options

I've got the Navitimer (AB012012). It's the iconic Breitling. I also chose it for it's aviation heritage. But pick the watch you like the most.

I would be all over the new blue Chronomat if it came in a 41mm size. In all my years as a Breitling wearer, I never warmed to the Navi.
