You did the right thing by trying on the SD43 before making a decision. It's got to blow you away or else forget about it.
The opposite happened to me when trying the Hulk and the SD43. I couldn''t get passed the super case of the Sub and the bright green dial. The SD43 on the other hand felt truly perfect to me, an "improved" Sub of sorts in my eyes at least, with the attributes we all know (larger case, slimmer lugs, larger bracelet, a bit higher on the wrist giving it more presence, the red text and anniversary being a nice addition). I don't give up on the idea of a Hulk maybe for the next gen if it's 42mm, has slimmer lugs and a deep dark emerald green dial even under a spotlight. |

I'd do the trade without hesitation.

That’s a tough call. I have both. My SD43 seems to be my go to for weekends. The LVc I’ll wear to work dressed up, dressed down you name it.
If it’s either or, the SD43 is evrything a Sub is and then more so I’d trade. |

It's kind of a toss up. They're similar for me in that neither are really the ideal "every day watch". on my 7" wrist the SD43 is slightly big, and while the hulk is one of my all time favs, the green isn't my cup of tea everyday.
All that said, I'd go with whichever one physically fits you best. What's your wrist size? Here are some pics to make your decision harder lol |

I’d love to add the SD50, but I’d never let go of my LVc for one.

I have moved from LVc to IWC Big Pilot back to LNc and now to SD43 ... I think I'm honing in on THE Rolex I will keep forever. Don't ever see myself selling the SD43 Mk1

To me the Hulk has more personality-the color does it for me.

There is no wrong answer here and both watches are fantastic. I actually did the inverse and sold my SD43 and replaced it with a Hulk and don't regret the decision. The SD43 is an amazing piece but I found it a bit too tall for my liking. I would have probably kept the SD43 if I had 4+ watch collection. In the end, I prefer the overall dimensions of a Submariner case.

If your not enjoying wearing it why keep it no matter what it is. It sounds like the 43mm of the SD43 will fit you well.

I have both and I will definitely keep them. But if you have problem with the hulk size, I would say go for it. It's not just about the watch, but how it looks on you and how you feel that matters.

the SD50 is IMHO the best looking professional watch in the rolex collection. it has incredible wrist presence and the red print is beautiful. the hulk may be more collectible but who knows. i sold the SD43 after two months since my very small wrist did not support the size but i am still thinking i should have kept it for occasional wear. it is a really special piece.

I'm curious how many SD43 owners here will ever use it in conditions for which the Submariner is not suitable. I know most Sub owners don't dive with them, but I've got to figure a higher percentage use their Subs for their intended purpose than do SD owners. I've only ever seen a couple professional saturation divers post in watch forums (not here), and they both said they don't even use watches on the job, much less one that costs five figures.

Although I personally prefer the Hulk, it's not a bad trade. Both great watches. To me the 40mm is the better size, but for what I read the 43mm Seadweller will be a fine size for you. Enjoy!

I’d do that trade and both of those are my favorite watches.Like the size and red text better though.

I would have done the trade. The SD43 remains to this day the closest thing to "perfection" in the current modern divers lineup from the crown, for what I value in a diver anyway. I only wish the dial was slightly larger (1mm) to keep it in proportion with the rest (I could be nitpicking but it bothers me at times).

I’m 6-1, 225 with roughly 7.75-8” wrists and I had the SD43. I ended up picking up a SubC because the SD43 felt like I a brick strapped to my wrist. Not where it was terribly uncomfortable or ultra heavy, but I could just always tell it was there, which was cool in the honeymoon phase, but got old after that. It was also getting caught up in my cuffs daily because of the thickness, which was annoying as well. It would have been one thing if I was utilizing the SD43 the way it was intended, but I’m not going to those depths so the extra heft didn’t make sense to me. Loved my LN but ended up trading that for my LV because my LN looked so similar to my BLNR and there’s zero chance I’ll be getting rid of that.

Go for the SD43, i think its a better choice here, only on personal reasons though but i feel its more versatile than the Hulk. Good trade
