'71 Rolex 1680 "Red" in Naples/Napoli (Italy)

Hi, who wants a 21.000 USD reward for helping me find the this watch or the current owner?

I'm seeking this specific '71/'72 Rolex 1680 "Red" MK5 with sn 3059778, which was found in 2013 by a collector in Naples/Napoli (Italy), probably first name "Rodolfo". He was formerly active online at forumorologi eu

The watch is missing original bracelet, has a loose bezel and a small 3 letter engraving on the back side.
This watch once belonged to my father for many years and one day I want to give the watch to my newborn son. I offer a price above marked price, another similar or better watch in return to make sure everyone are satisfied.

Please contact me with anything that can help finding the watch and get a nice reward.
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Søren Skov

Interesting story, and good luck in your search.

Did your father end up selling the watch to the collector you mention? Seems like there's a little bit of the story that's missing.

I got the watch back when finishing high school, but unfortunately some youngsters pulled it of my wrist some years later.
Now I just want it back and offer a nice reward for everyone assisting with locating the watch to create motivation for everyone related to help.
Especially the "owner" of a stolen watch, to either get out of it with cash or a similar legal watch in exchange.

Anyone has ideas to do further actions?

I'm considdering to travel down there hand put up posters on the street..
or hire some local investigator if possible, but I need some suggestions.

There may be value for you in just letting it go and buying another watch for your son that communicates your feeling of family love.

My birthright watch was stolen from my father many years ago, and we never managed to find it again despite extensive efforts. But I did find an identical one a couple of years ago and gave him it for Christmas. It was only the scond time I've seen him cry (the first being when his mother passed). It probably means more to him now than the original did.

Your dad probably wouldn't have wanted you to agonize about finding this actual piece. Sometimes you can let the past go, but I wish you the best of luck in your quest.

Although I thoroughly agree with you, I too would do something similar to what the OP is doing re finding the very watch that was once strapped on my old man's wrists. At least it is worth trying.
OP I hope you find it. If not, your son will appreciate the sentiment of a watch that was strapped on his father's wrists. Either way, you come out a winner.

To get the timeline correct.

1. Father owns it.
2. Gifted to you at some date.
3. Stolen from you some years later.
4. Found in 2013 by a collector "Rodolfo", who is no longer contactable.

Is this right?

Interesting quest, except asking the serial every time you see one mk5 on internet, I don't have a clue how to operate...

So if I find the watch I get a 21K reward? Plus an inflated price for the watch?

Hope you find it.

On a similar vein I saw an old sub on eBay in the UK which had a very specific engraving. I googled it and found the Watch was owned by a former pro footballer in Australia. Seemed funny how it ended up here. I did try and track him down & found his son on Instagram thinking he may be interested in acquiring it. He read my message and never even bothered to reply. Guess it shows the bubble we watch lovers live in! Probably thought I was bonkers haha.

Same thing for me. So much emotion tied up in a needle in a haystack quest like this.

Best of luck to OP.

What’s engraved on the back? This may be the best way for average people to easily identify the watch.

zapokee: thanks for the input and I will survive If I don't find it. But it is nice quest to have for life.

Welshwatchman, correct. Let me add my father owned it for 35 years and to begin with working as a Navy Seals similar diver in Denmark where the watch proved its quality. He got it after saving up for a whole year driving taxi..

bayerische, yes sir, 21k for you for either finding location of the watch or identity of the owner. Anything less than that helping with getting new info or a trace will also be rewarded generously.

Styles Bitchley: sad to hear and hope you find yours one day. The engraving on mine is 3 small letters on the backside of a lug and any 71/72 1680 Submariner Red with a somewhat engraving like that has my interest.

I found the Rolex watch now, but have a really hard time with getting it back. It is now held by a discrete seller in Spain where it is hard for me to go by, and to make things more complicated, the serial number is now changed from 3059778 to 3059722.

Be careful you aren’t being set up for a robbery/scam.

Any more details on how you’ve verified it’s the watch?
