Help me authenticate this Sub

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time. I am looking to buy this Submariner from a private party near my location. The Seller agrees to meet at any AD in the area to authenticate the watch. However, I thought I would like to ask the experts here if anything looks off on this watch.

Please help!

I would say that it's not authentic.

If you use an AD, you want a watchmaker to look at it, not the sales staff that may not know a Rolex from a Timex.

Agreed I did this with a Breitling Watch over a year ago and everyone in store didn't know [expletive]

What is suspicious about this watch?

I’m terrible at this. But looks real to me.

You have what so many people wish they have. You live in Dallas with a RSC. Ask the RSC to work up an estimate. They’ll tell you of its fake, or what needs to be replaced.

Then you’ll know how much to adjust the price. Or not buy at all.

I believe we are not supposed to get into all that, but one obvious tell is the fit of the bracelet to the lugs. It's not right. Few other things I see too -- it's not that good of a replica.

Additionally, every photo doesn't show the date wheel, which is also super suspicious.

I can’t say if it’s fake or or not but they always offer to meet at an AD or police station. Then they cancel last min saying they’ve got someone else hoping you say it’s OK, I’ll take it right now! Because the price is sooo good you don’t want to miss on it. Likely stolen pics too. Ask them to show the buckle and backside.

The AD or police visit is bs.

Check warranty card. Look up the shop, call them and ask them if the watch with 8 digit serial has been sold at the shop.

For a replica to exist they dont uniquely mark the serials and produce an independent warranty card. They'll replicate the 103XADS4 onto 1000 watches and 1000 warranty cards. Granted that it's one of those cases it wouldnt be the first time the shop gets such a call. That's one way...The shop will be able to look up the serial in a matter of minutes.

Pictures suck. Hard to make a determination. as stated, if he'll meet you at an AD, have them open it up.

Looks good. But go to a Rolex Service center. Some ADs can open the watch on the spot. My local AD is currently servicing my 14000m Air King. They warranty it too.

Why would he offer you a good deal and not just sell it on eBay or here? Red flag.

No date window pic is a red flag. I bet the fonts are wrong or poor centering.

The date wheel is such an obvious quality check point. The seller seems to have made a point of not photographing it head on.

Why are we trying to save a couple bucks when there are sellers who will consistently treat you properly and never misrepresent a watch? I’d be careful of meeting a rando w thousands of cash.

Also, the bezel is rotated, so you can't check for the alignment of the "pearl" at 12:00, which should be perfect, and is apparently difficult to fake.

Bezel alignment is often off on the authentic watches. See, e.g., https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=516508

The rehaut here seems problematic though. It does not look aligned (even accounting for the angles).

Never understand why these drive by posts from people who just sign up, post about a suspicious watch and then disappear without a trace are taken seriously.

Looks pretty good to me. Box obviously, but papers? The cushion isn't looking to fit the box though.

I am not disappearing. I have a life a job and 2 young kids to take care so sorry for not replying promptly enough.
As a newbie who never owns a rolex I wanted to post the watch here in case there is any obvious red flag that YOU (so claimed experts) can spot out. That would save me time going back and forth with the Seller. I of course will meet him at AD if I decide to move forward with the purchase. However, I would also love to learn so thanks to those that shared your concern/opinion about the watch.
