These pictures actually show what I meant about the 39mm Explorer wearing larger than 39mm. It looks considerably bigger than the 40mm Sub due to the huge numerals and the wide bezel.

Got 16610LV hands on this one

I wear a six digits when I travel. Their downsides is they are heavier and feel a little flashy because they are so polished... they also lack the history. Now if I could only have one watch, I would go for a modern Rolex. The explorer is a great watch.
Agree!

I really like that. Might have to look into sourcing those hands.

214270 for me. I love the 14060 aesthetically and I'd love to have one, but the modern 6 digit Rolex is just a much better watch.

It really really makes a difference for readability, notably in low light.

Check the FS section Viper should have a set up.

This thread is a perfect example of how supportive and collaborative this community can be, a promising reminder that TRF has not simply regressed into a platform for AD complaints.

Super helpful for my decision making too as these are the exact two models I’m deliberating between. Thanks to Finslayer for the pics.

I'm a big Sub fan owning several incl. a SubC and 14060m. I've never owned a 214270 but if your talking of a one watch only a new Explorer makes a lot of sense.

Depends on your current collection for me. I have a pre-ceramic Sub Date and a 214270, and I would give the 214270 a slight edge. It's close to the perfect watch for me. It's much better built overall and SO CLASSY. Sub is iconic, but Explorer is a true WIS watch IMO.

It'll also be great to have your name on a brand new piece vs. risking on an older piece. That said, you can't go wrong either way, though. Good luck!

I have a 14060M and a 214270. They both wear about the same size in my opinion. The 14060M was my first Rolex and one that I will always keep. With that said, I probably wear the Explorer a little bit more. It keeps slightly better time and the bracelet is better. Both have a classic and handsome look.

Anytime - it was folks posting threads like this that helped me in my "hunt" if you need any more pics let me know. Don't have the 14060M anymore but the 16610 can be used as a substitute for pics.

Congrats! If you don’t mind messaging the seller information to me for the 14060, that’s what I’m looking for at the moment. Cheers.
