Explorer is an odd one really, at first glance, it feels boring and one may argue it is even bland. But as time goes, it slowly releases its charm and can be just as dressy as DJ when needs to be.

It’s probably my my favorite for daily wear: Comfort, legibility, and its simplistic style are second to none, IMO.

I kind of like the new air king a little better, but it is a cool watch either way.

It’s a great watch that is elegant and sporty all in one.
Pairs well with a 114060, and looks and wears quite differently. I would never let mine go, but only get it if you really love it at the outset. |

All these Explorer threads are going to ruin everything. Explorer owners know it's the OCBD of watches.
I just hope it remains easy to get and reasonable in price. If it becomes harder to get or more expensive it will suddenly become popular...we don't need that. I just like it for it's simplicity. No date to fuss with, no big numbered bezel, no cyclops, no weird colors. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Not sure what size wrists you guys have that are saying too big. Mines pretty small at 6.3-6.5 inches and the 214270 wears small

Try it on first. I found it out of proportion in comparison to the 36 explorers. The dial, imo, sits very wide.

Exactly. If OP likes it, he should get it.

Disliked the fat bezel too, prefer the proportions of the 36mm version 14270 / 114270 or the OP

I wanted a good watch for everyday and am very happy I bought an Explorer. I don't dive so wasn't pulled toward dive watches. It looks good in the evening, has no trouble in the ocean or in the yard. I like looking at it but it doesn't draw attention. It's been on every day going on three years. I travel frequently so would like a GMT but I like the explorer so much I wonder a GMT would get much wrist time.

YES!!! I have had mine for 9 months and I absolutely love it. I wear it nearly every day and the initial excitement hasn't faded.
It really is as versatile as reputed... I've dressed it up to a suit and down to workout clothes and it's a total chameleon. It's been referred to as a "slow release" Rolex, which I agree with. The more I look at it, the more I appreciate it's exquisitely designed simplicity. |

It is a great watch, far far better then many of the blingy flavor of the month watches that are being chased today but will be forgotten tomorrow. The Explorer is a real timeless classic, an icon of good taste!

I tried one on last week and didn’t love the mirror-bright bezel, which is undoubtedly a scratch and smudge magnet. I’ll give it another try though. The price was right for that Mk 1.
Also, I don’t see how anyone with a 6.5” wrist can seriously say it wears small. |
