Rolex Model that will

I am in my mid 30s and thinking about investing in a Rolex that I can keep as long as I can. So far, my number one choice has been a Submariner model but I am starting to like and appreciate some of the Date Just models too. But I want to pick one! Of course Submariner is my # choice and I think it looks sporty and great! But as I get older, I am thinking that maybe a Sub might become too sporty which is why Date Just models seem to be a solid choice.

Curious to know your thoughts. Would appreciate honest feedback.

I am new to this community and so if this question has already been posted previously, my apologies! Kindly share the link if possible.

Get the one that you really like now and you can always add another one later (just stick around here and we will enable you ). DateJust is a fine choice and you can't really go wrong with it.

Welcome to TRF.
This is the right advice. If you see a decent deal on whichever one first, jump on it. The other will come!

Welcome.

Seeing as how you're in your 30s, one would think you are mature enough to make these kind of decisions on your own. You can own more than one watch

Do you buy a car with the thought that in 20 years I may not need a minivan or I won't need a 6 seat SUV.

I don't mean to be rude but, really. If a Sub is too sporty in 25 years time (although I have no idea what that means) you can sell it and get a old man watch. Or a watch with a massive date or whatever.

These things are luxury items and we may all be dead in 5 years.

Live your life. Buy what you are attracted to.

And welcome to the forum.

It really depends where and what you do. In my line of work the subs are worn more by the younger guys which put me off mine in that world. But outside it doesn't really come into play.

The eternal question.
Sorta like, "Ginger or Mary Ann?"
And, of course, the answer to both questions is the same.

This is you plan to wear it to your death bed. Maybe SS, fluted on an oyster, light colored dial - white or silver. Sporty and dressy IMO.
Because, you'll be looking for a Sub in a few years!!
