Which one do you prefer 116520 or 126610LN?
I was undecided between the two because they are both among the most iconic models of rolex. but the daytona model I'm interested in is from 2008, box and certificate available. approximate asking price 28k(US dollars). Submariner is brand new unused box certificate and asking price is 15k. Namely, the daytona is a model that I want very much, but compared to a new submariner, which I will always wear on my wrist every day. I would like to know your opinion which one would be the right choice. Kind regards.

If 116520 is in good condition, I would go for that.
You can add 126610LN later at the Rolex boutique near you with some wait time.

I prefer Subs over Daytonas plus you said you would wear the Sub everyday. There’s your answer.

I would get the one today that will be harder to get in the future, the 116520.
But I’ve never cared for the sub as it’s heavy and bulky. I much prefer the GMT. And my 116520 is one of my favorite most comfortable watches. I sometimes look at my collection and play the “if I could only have one” game and the 116520 white is at the top of the list every time. The 126610 just came out and may be around for a decade. Good 116520’s will be harder to find as time goes on. Trust me, I’m trying to find a 16520 now and regret not getting one years ago. So, get the Daytona now and try to get a sub at retail some time in the future. |

Might be a silly question, but what would be stopping you wearing the 116520 everyday?
Agree the Sub is probably more durable/practical given the ceramic bezel, but if the 116520 is the one your hearts set on then go for it. As others have said, the Sub could be purchased from an AD at retail with a little patience, good original condition, untouched 116520’s are only going to get harder to find as time goes on. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For a few thousand more OP can get a 116500LN Ceramic. 116520 is nice but over time the scratches on the bezel would really bother me as they do on a lot of 116520 I see out there. But if thats not a big deal than go for the 116520!

Can’t speak for you, but between my black dial Daytona. And my new 41mm date sub, rarely do I wear my sub. Ceramic black dial daytona on rubber b is my everyday watch. The size is near perfection.

I never like chronograph’s so Sub is an easy pick in my book.

Not really Subs and GMTs wear different due to the case back protruding on the Sub.

Thank you very much for your valuable comments. I think I've understated it because I want to have it for every day use regardless of the two. Now I've made an assessment and I think there may be an opportunity. I'm in the negotiation phase for the 116500 black dial. It is requested for approximately 31k for 2020 model used one. Most likely, this will be my decision because it seems 116520 is pretty old for asking 28k price and will definitely need service. In this case it would cost me the same as 116500.
I wrote at length, I may have bored you, but I sincerely wanted to share my thoughts and hesitations with you. By the way sorry my language as English is not my native one. Thank you again. |

I’d go for the black Daytona. Just wrote me on the list today actually for it. It’s my favorite modern Daytona (I own the white one and it’s amazing) but love that the black one flies a little under the radar and looks more elegant and uniform matching the bezel.

If you think the Daytona is not suitable as a daily, than why even consider it ?

I like a date and ceramic bezel for a daily wear piece, so for me it would be the 126610. If I did not need the date, I would go for a ceramic bezel Daytona in either color (black or white, both are awesome). I own said models, as well as the 116520, and can tell you the Subs get daily wear, Daytona(s) not as much due to no date, and polished center links (flashier) and my occupation/lifestyle.
Imo- get the best priced one that will be harder to source, and backtrack later on for the easier to get model if possible. |

Two completely different watches!!
Size, complications, wearability, bezel………etc. I think you answer your own question! Go after the one you like more which seems to be the daytona for you!
