So, I bought a new car. Again.

I have car OCD, and according to my spreadsheet (yes, I had to put all 63 of them in a spreadsheet) I keep them an average of 20 months.

After reading reviews and watching videos, of which all of them, 100% are positive, I started my search. Like most highly coveted high performance cars, these are in short supply, and most dealers are charging over MSRP and used ones are demanding a premium, so it was a bit of a challenge, but I finally found one. And bought it. And I love it.

It is a Cadillac (stop laughing) CT5-V (I can still hear you) Blackwing. For those of you who don't know what that is, they took the old man sedan and put in a modified C7 Corvette Z06 supercharged LT4 engine in it, along with the Magnaride suspension and all of the other optional extras as standard and produced this remarkable car. I got one with a manual transmission.

I've only had it for two weeks, but I am really enjoying it. I'm still in the break-in period, but you can tell that the power is just insane. Also insane is a car that will outperform a BMW M5 on the track (according to many reviews including this one which is very entertaining) but rides worlds better, very comfortable and relatively quiet largely due to the active noise cancellation. With high performance Michelin PS4S tires, there is a lot of road noise on bad pavement, but the engine, shifter, clutch, brakes and the steering are all worlds better than the BMW M4 that preceded it in my rotating fleet.

So, I'm having fun. Felt like sharing.

I got it in black so that it would coordinate with my Submariner. LOL

Congratulations. Keep us updated on your ownership experience. I am a historic fan of Cadillac and Lincoln and find it disheartening that the companies have let the brands slide from being so top of the line to being irrelevant in todays luxury market.

I was recently looking for a used Blackwing before getting my WRX. There's one in my hood with aftermarket exhaust that looks and sounds incredible. Bit of a sleeper, in my opinion. Enjoy that thing for the next 19.5mos.

Congratulations Michael, really a fantastic machine.

I’m surprised it rides better than the M5.

If I were into cars like I was in my youth, I think this is exactly what I’d gravitate toward.

Enjoy it

Big V8 and a manual gearbox, what’s not to love! That might be a keeper, their days are numbered. Congratulations!

Not your father's Cadillac. Nice car.

Although I still have nightmares about manual transmissions.

I think my leg is still shaking 35 years later from driving a manual transmission Jeep in stop and go traffic in LA "freeways". Whenever I see a clutch pedal I have flashbacks...go 6 feet, push in the clutch....go 10 feet...push in the clutch....15 miles later.......cramps.

Congratulations. It looks like a lot of fun to drive. Is it ever frustrating sticking to the speed limit in a powerful car?

Nice ride.

If you ever feel it lacks power, send it to Lingenfelter. They’ll do you right.

Awesome! That’s an amazing car overall. Also bit of a sleeper.

Way back in the day, I sold my M5 for a CTS-V. The Caddy was more comfortable and had gobs more torque.

I don’t think anyone who drives real cars would laugh at a CTS-V. That’s a beast.

Love your style.

And the car. I’m a huge fan. And I have pondered getting one myself. Big fan.

Enjoy it.
