In one of the local magazines here in Detroit Justin Verlander (Detroit Tiger)
was on the cover wearing a YM.

Love the YM. Not too flashy for a Rolex, in fact, a lot won't recognize it as a Rolex. And it's not too "rugged" looking for a sports watch. So, it's right in the middle of the dressy-sporty scale.

A YM is not an option because the wife has already
declared I will be getting a full size and her a mid size
for an anniversary gift in the next couple years.

Jeremy,
What about the new IWC Aquatimers? Or IWC Ingenieur?

Well I really was thinking the AP ROO Diver.
I went and looked at it, I love it... Stunning watch
amazing dial
BUT
That bezel is a ding magnet for people like myself who
are tough on our watches....
I really wish they offered a Rubber Clad bezel for them
my AD said he has heard others make the same comment
and has asked their rep about it so perhaps someday.
Tried on a Bumble Bee and nice watch but as I have said before for that kinda
money I want an integrated chrono not a piggy back.

Found a Beverly Hills JLC Navy Seals Alarm and wow what a watch! But its a bit big for me as its 44 mm and has 2 crowns and after I did more searching seems the JLC NS watches can be problematic....

I don't know... The more I try to find something other than a Rolex the more I keep
getting pushed back to Rolex.....

Just posted this little photo on another thread. If you want a time tested 'beater' you want go wrong with a Sea-Dweller

Oh I agree....
The SD is an AMAZING watch.
I had one and regret selling it.
I will get another but I want a 666 with a matte
dial and saphire crystal....
I don't know......
It's frustrating, I LOVE Rolex... But I want something else...
Something a bit more exclusive I guess but I just can't find
anything in my size and that I am confident will take whatever
I give it and still look good....

I've bee/am there, there is no perfect choice. With Rolex you have to carry the stigma and ubiquity of the watch (go to a business meeting or golf course and it is literally the most common brand watch there) but I have yet to find anything that will beat it in terms of look, value, pedigree, service, resell value etc, etc, etc.

The only way it to get a couple of others like the ROO Diver and others and rotate around. Or go zen and use a SD and nothing else! :-)

Just picked one up with bracelet for a reasonable price. Looks great.

Congrats Jim
I am partial to the Saphire bezel myself.
The older model looks very YMish to me.

Korsbek Hydro Explorer? If it ever comes out...

Or IWC Aquatimer 3536 in Ti?

Both of these are 42mm and rather unusual.

Of course - I'm not up on the Rolex slang yet. (Someone was talking about a Smurfy on another thread - haven't a clue.)

Thanks, again.

Smurf is the new White Gold Submariner with the Blue dial and Bezel.

That IWC is very nice but too much like my Ti Aquatimer Chrono (last generation)

I guess it will end up being a Rolex DD, just can't decide YG or wait for Plat.
I have pale skin so not sure...
