AP panda or ROLEX daytona ss

hi

I have a dilemma ...
I'm debating between the purchase of AP's watch royal oak offshore Panda, and the Rolex Daytona ss.
On the one hand the AP watch really wanted nowI think it's watch really pretty impressive, especially with leather strap, but my fear that this is a fashionable watchand hus price a year or two of fall, as happened for example HUBOLT watches. Rolex Daytona on the other hand, this watch actually keeps his value second hand market price.
What do you recommend for me?
thank you

I am not a big fan of either but of the two the Daytona would be
my purchase. I do not care for the piggyback movement on the ROO
and I think they have flooded their own market with limited editions.

I have had 2 Daytonas and sold them both, I have tried on to purchase
a few ROO's and never end up pulling the trigger, it just does not give
me that warm and tingly feeling when I get it on the wrist.

If I had to buy a Daytona it would be a RG, if I had to buy a ROO it would be
the RG Rubberclad.

But as I said if I had the money Id rather spend it elsewhere than on either of these.

Hands down the Panda, no comparison in my mind between the two.

If price is not an issue go for it, the fact that the Panda is twice as expensive give or take may be an indication of how much better it is.

Please explain this....
How is the movement twice as good as the Rolex movement???
The Rolex movement is an integrated chrono while the ROO is simply
a Piggy Back... Price does not always equate to a better movement.

The Rolex chrono is one of the best chrono movements made.

Again as I said earlier I am not really a fan of either but technologically the
Rolex is far superior.

Wasn't talking about the movement.

Build quality, exclusivity and heritage make any AP better than any Rolex in my opinion.

I have a couple of both brands and that's they way I feel.

I can attest to the AP movements being better finished than Rolex. Durability is a different matter altogether. However I prefer the column wheel Daytona over the Dubois Depraz module on the AP. Now the new integrated APs are entirely a different ballgame.

i just bought the AP panda, H series, with the 3 series movement, have u guys seen the movement, with the gold horse engraving etc?
i have owned "20 white and black face and "18 b mop dial, and have to say that the AP is bigger and more 3d, though hard to keep clean with the strap, the Daytonas are very durable and sleeker, hot water and then its easy to keep clean.
buy both in my opinion!!!

I agree. I had the Daytona and I recently acquired my grail, the AP Panda. No contest here.

For the AP:
- Readability of the dial. The daytona, especially the black is hard to read. Too much reflections.
- Bracelet on the AP is fantastic. I don't like polished centre links on the daytone.
- The bezel on the AP is brushed so less chance of showing sratches unlike the daytone
- Resale. As long as you don't pay full retail for the AP, they pretty much settle around $14-$15k for the AP on strap.
- Wrist presence goes to the AP. It looks like a really expensive watch, much more commanding than a Daytona.
- Too many Rolexes around and I have seen more than my fair share of Daytonas. However, I hardly see any APs and consider AP to be more exclusive.
- Date is not great on the AP due to the piggyback movement but at least it has a date.

For the Daytona:
- Integrated chrono is a piece of art. Still, I don't really use the chrono too much so it does not bother me. My reference for movements is JLC but guess what, as good as they are, I have lost lots of money on my JLC watches.

Just the thoughts I had before I made the decision to buy. The only consideration with my AP now is whether to keep it on the bracelet or the strap.

The strap gives it so much more character but the bracelet is so versatile.

Choose the AP. You can't settle for second best

Well said Kevin.
It just a different feeling to wear AP watch compare to Rolex. That's my opinion.

Buy and wear what you enjoy. Why fuss over the resale value?

Seriously, which is more important - the joy of wearing the watch you like or the resale value? If you like the AP, just buy it.

The ROO is a joke. A piggybacked movement starting at 22K. No thanks. Now if we're taking about the ROC that's a different story.

I agree the comparison should be daytona vs roc. Similar size with dependable movements.

Roo vs big bang would be a better comparison.

The only right answer is which do you like best.

I have a Daytona and I am perfectly happy. However at some point in the future I might get an AP as they are starting to grow on me.

The question is which one would you prefer. Have you tried both of them on yet?

Do people really cross shop a $10k SS Dayton and a $20k AP? I'd say if you have to think about such a purchase you prob aren't liquid enough to make the purchase. It's like cross shopping a BMW and a Bentley..people that want the Bentley don't sit and ponder the purchase..

Exactly ... well said ... its just not comparable ... driving Bentley is such a different feeling then BMW. If you like Bentley and could afford it, why not ?? or if you still choose to drive BMW and safe money .. thats not a bad idea too.

I had an ROO Safari for a few weeks but now just own a Daytona SS white dial...

Sorry guys, but it is my opinion that the Daytona wins hands down. ROO is just bulky, uncomfortable...and most importantly, it does not sing to me.

I've got a ROO bumblebee, ROO rubberclad white dial and a Daytona SS with black.

I wear the daytona most it us more versatile but you've got to own both, I don't like the AP Panda, I would suggest you to get the safari. Get a WG Daytona with the Arabic numerals black ore silver dial, it is sexy and timeless.

I was in the same boat as you however I was looking at the royal oak chrono with the panda dial vs. a white dial daytona. I decided to save my cash for the AP!
