Spring bars for a 16800

Would like to purchase a Tropic strap for a 16800 matte dial. This got me thinking about getting a new set of spring bars for the watch too. They’re almost certainly older than 25 yrs and I didn’t specify they be changed during a recent service. I’ve been given the impression I should be trying to keep watch as original/correct as possible, so I was hoping someone could provide guidance on what kind of spring bars were found on this watch originally and where I can find a set.

Thanks.

Stop by your local Rolex AD. They should either have a set in stock or be able to order them. Springbars are a common part and genuine ones can be ordered by all official dealers.

Thanks. Sent an e-mail to my AD. If that doesn’t pan out I’ll snag the set on eBay.

Don't ever buy aftermarket spring bars. Get them at your AD under part number B23-12200-F5.

These are the correct ones (2mm) for Subs.

5 (five) per pack.

Warning warning!!!

You'll save some bucks and... a lot of trouble.

Another good option.

There is nothing wrong with aftermarket spring bars - which I'm sure can be found in many, many older Rolex models.

Can you post a pic of it on the tropic? I’ve been thinking about getting one for my 1680. The company making the originals again looks like the real deal. I just never see them on subs...not sure why.

Here's the one I was thinking of.

I'm not a fan of the ones that come up and meet the case (Rubber B, etc.).

That’s exactly the one I intend to get. I’ll post pics of it on the watch when it comes in.

I really like it. It’s more flexible than I was expecting, and lightweight without feeling cheap.

Perfect, thanks. I have an Isofrane dive strap from the same company. It's about 15 years old by now and still looks (and smells) new. I've been considering adding a Tropic for a while and will order one asap.

If you didn't get new spring bars during a full service, I would wonder what else they didn't change out.

It was basically a movement only service, plus anything necessary to maintain water resistance. I asked them to leave the crystal, dial, hands and exterior of the watch alone. I didn’t think to ask them to replace the spring bars.
