116660 Black Deepsea

Hi All,

I’m contemplating purchasing a Deepsea, in an ideal world it would be the 126660 Black, but here in the U.K. the waiting list is huge (today, I’ve been told by two separate ADs that I’m looking at two years minimum!!)

A month or so back I was on the verge of getting a three month old 116660 but the deal fell through unfortunately, looking back I should have accepted the deal that was on the table as it now turns out it was a good offer. We live and learn!

I’ve now seen a 2011 116660, very good condition (I suspect only worn a few times) all boxes, cards etc present and correct. It’s from a reputable source here in the U.K. who will offer a two-year warranty? it’s for sale at £7500. What do you guys reckon? Does that sound a little high or about right?

Any opinions appreciated!

Thanks

Hold out for the 126660, HUGE improvement. I had the 116660 before purchasing the new one and it is a big improvement. Just my opinion of course. Maybe contact one of our trusted sellers....That's what I did. I'm not big on waiting on a "list". Good luck! The new one is fantastic.

I love all versions of the Deepsea but I'll admit I won't go back to a 116660 after now owning the 126660.
If it really is a 2 year wait, you could buy the 116660 to hold you over and then make a decision when you get the call.
You never know, you might fall for the 116660 and make it a keeper..

I've had the original variant for over 5 years and while at times it does appear quite thick I've been more than happy with it. Its held up admirably and I don't think I'd have the stomach to part with it, even for an upgraded model. For me the taper of the bracelet doesn't bother me. YMMV

NO way - don't settle for SD43 when you can have the greatest professional dive watch ever made by Rolex - James Cameron D-Blue! It's not about the money. Buy what you have an emotional response to that really sings to you.

The deepsea is a beautiful watch (I love my JC) but I doubt it’s as rare as the Pepsi, and Daytona! So you might get one before the two years you were told! I would wait and get what you want rather than settling for the older version!

Thanks for the replies guys!

I’ll stay on the waiting list for the 126660, but in the meantime I’ll consider a second hand 116660 (can always flip it when the new 126660 arrives.)

Do any of you have an opinion on the £7500 asking price for the 2011 116660 which I’ve been offered with a two year warranty?

Thanks again
Mike

7500 seems a few hundred too high even in great condition with everything included, but the watch market is a fickle beast with SS models.

I actually prefer the look of the old 116660 over the new one. It's more function over design.
If you find a nice example a couple of 100's don't matter imho

If your really want the 126660 you can find one. I would hold out and enjoy the search. I was offered one when looking for my SD43.

I would go for it. Get the DSSD and enjoy it and wait on the new model. The price appears fair and you will be able to get out without a significant loss. Go get your watch.

As others have said, I would be surprised if it was 2 years.

I was offered a 126660 by my AD in New Zealand, when I called in about another brand. I was on the waiting list for another Rolex, and had bought other watches from them. I was lucky as the person they earmarked it for found it too big....but it fits me perfectly and I am incredibly glad I got it!!!

The Deep Sea was always on my top 3 list and honestly it is so much better than I anticipated - my new daily!

Hi All,

Me again! Can I ask your opinions on this 116660. I’m hoping the link is ok and not breaking any rules? Please let me know if I need to delete it.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-ROLE...4AAOSwwb1br9gV

It’s an unworn 2012 model, stickers still in place. He will accept £7400.

Will the fact that it’s been sat unused since 2012 cause any issues?

As always, your help would be appreciated.

Same here. Mine was bought in 2009 and I've never had the urge to flip or swap it for the blue version or the new black.

My thinking is that by going for this 116660 I’m getting a £2k saving over 126660. On the downside, it’s only a one year warranty rather than full five from an AD for a new 126660.

Is £7400 good for a 2012 model in unused condition with 1yr warranty? My gut is saying it’s a reasonable deal. I guess I just want sense checking before I hit the button!

Seems to be a good deal for the UK market, the seller seems legit but I would want to view the watch before shelling out that sort of money. Good luck.

Too many loop holes and forever a new CS attending to your next dispute claim email.
After I have lost both item returned and payment to a long time seller with hundreds of positive feedback, ebay is just a platform for price checking.
