Anyone own both a white and black 116500 Daytona?

Let’s pretend these weren’t impossible to come by at an AD..

I currently own the white dial, but have been eyeballing the black dial for weeks- have been contemplating adding my name to the list at my AD. Feel that they are two different watches in terms of look and how they wear (black dial seems bigger to me).

Does anyone own both and rotate through them regularly?

And a picture from this morning for good measure... :D

I own both and rotate them regularly. For the moment I seem to wear black on weekdays and white on weekends. But that changes regularly as well :)

Nice to have options!

Very different watches and highly recommend both because they ARE quite distinct from each other. Diff feel and look.

I have the black and thought I didn’t care to own a white. That’s changed as I am on the list for a white even though I know it may be years down the road.

I have also owned the black for a couple years now. Just put myself down for the white the other day as well

I am very fortunate to own both. I do wildly prefer the white dial but thats just me. I actually rarely wear my black dial.

Ive owned the white for over two years and got the black a month ago. I was a little concerned it might be overlap but I dont feel that way now. The black does wear a little larger than the white. The white is very sporty but the black is very sleek. I do think they compliment each other well. As far as which i like more- it depends on what I’m wearing but man I’m absolutely loving the black ALOT!!!

I own both as well. Personally, black is by far my favourite. White dial is flat and somehow undermines the true beauty of Daytona SS.

I've got both too and agree the black is my favourite of the pair. The white seems a lot more popular and looks better in photo's but in reality the black is just more special somehow.

I tend to agree on some of the white vs black comments.

Before seeing them in the flesh, I was sure I wanted white. After seeing then in person I prefer the black. Both are really nice obviously bit there is something about the black version.

Also, the black version looks especially good with the oysterflex strap which gives it an extra dimension.

For thesereasons, I think it is very important for a buyer to make sure and see the watches in the flesh before making a final decision.

And wth the current state of affairs you would have more chance of winning the lottery jackpot twice than seeing both at an AD.

You don't have to go to an AD to look at the watches right? Just go to a grey dealer. Quite easy actually.

I’ve said it before but I prefer black as daily especially for semi formal or business, the silver sub-dials just works well on the almost liquid black dial and with ceramic bezel. Black Daytona is my favourite watch and the one I tend to pick most days.

Also tried white before purchasing and eventually might get it too for its cool looks due to high contrast subdials, it is a very sporty racing look!

Not so easy as nipping into my local AD and having a look.

Not sure why you have to go to an AD to look at a watch. They almost surely will not have either watch in stock.

There are grey dealers in almost every major city tha will be happy to show you a ceramic Daytona at for sale at current market prices. You may not want to buy from a grey dealer but you can certainly visit one to take a look at a piece to help you make a decision right? What is hard about that? Maybe you are not in a city that has grey dealers? Maybe wait for a business trip?

Fortunately I dont want either of them and if I did I could not be arsed to travel 200 miles to London to look at one.

Fortunately, not all those interested in the watch (and there are many!) are 200 miles away from a major city like you ;-)

I have both and wear the black at work and the white at weekends occasionally. I find them quite different. Black does give the illusion of being a bigger watch. Both watch dials and hands really look good in the sunshine.

Thank you my friend! I agree, pictures never gave that watch any justice! It’s totally different in person!

Glad to see so many folks with both! I’ll be rolling by the AD this week to see if waiting list is even an option :eyeroll:

Different enough to own both.
The white is more on the sportier side while the black is more sleek and dressy in my opinion.

Anyone own both a white and black 116500 Daytona?

I like the black more as it’s low key and masculine. The white is too flashy and feminine for me. I don’t need people looking at my wrist. The white grabs too much attention. The wife loves the white.

Rolex just needs to suck it up and create a global client database. Hold onto warranties for 1 year. Just like a limited sports car, it's really no big deal if you're a WIS and not a flipper.

I have had the black dial for over a year, and this month added the white dial to my collection.

It is interesting, I expected the black dial to be my daily/ weekday watch but the white has soon taken its position. As others have noted its more sporty. The black dial has taken the weekend more formal events title.
