I was on a small trip this weekend and spent 3 days with it. Love the watch but for me its not a watch i could wear daily. Its not the size but the weight. Some watches i will take off right away when arriving at home, others only when going to bed. This defines if a watch is confortable or not for me. Great piece do. I'll use it on t-shirt days.

I think a lot may have to do with how you have it set up.

Remove the divers extension and adjust so that you have a snuggish fit. If that doesn’t work for you then sell it. It is a heavier watch and there’s just no getting around that.

First 2 weeks i had it with the extension but then had it removed as it makes the clasp even bigger. It indead makes a big difference. I wear all my watches snug especialy heavy watches. The SD43 sits perfect on my wrist without the case wobbling. I have no problem with the weight because i do not intend to wear it daily or long hours. Just saying for those who will the weight might start to get unfortable. Taking the sd43 off and switch for example a speedmaster or 14060 feels like taking of your suit and tie for some shorts and a t-shirt:)

I was at my AD anyway so i asked them to remove it for me. Took 3min to remove and put back 2 links so its a simple job. But you might need to re-arrange the links do to get everthing centered again do.

If you aren’t going to wear it, then sell it.
I have mine for 2 weeks (almost) and aí can’t take it off!

You could remove with the proper tools. My AD set it up for me as I’m all thumbs when it comes to tiny screws and such

My wrist is 6.75 inches, with a little give or take during the day.

I did not know the divers extension was removable. That thing makes the clasp humongous, and I bet without it the visual appeal and comfort will both improve.

And yes, the latest movement with extra power reserve is nice. I have one in the CHNR, which is not a daily wearer, and it surprises me to find the watch still running.

My main issue with my SD is the cost, impulsivity, and high overlap with the SubC. The SubC was a birthday present to myself and it has the (older?) oval-O Rolex name, so it's less likely to be sold off. Maybe just given a rest :)
If you bought it on impulse, because of the hype alone, and the cost is bothering you then sell it on.

I believe that you either "get" the SD (any SD, not just the 126600) or you don't. If you don't "get" it, its just a bigger, heavier, more expensive Sub. If you do, then the Sub or black SS Sub Date is rendered pointless (unless you want one in your collection)

If you "get" what the SD is all about, then absolutely take the divers extension off.

It takes two minutes with a 1.6mm hollow ground screwdriver and a steady hand - the same as removing any link. You may need to heat the area up a little with a hairdryer to soften any loctite. Mine came out cold with no problem at all

In my opinion you should keep it. Once you get used to it there is every chance it will become your favourite piece

If I had a large wrist, I’d keep it and move the sub. Seems like

The SubC is and always will be THE icon and if you want something different go for the LV like I did.
I'd say the cartoonish LV is more hyped than the Sea-dweller. Those with small wrists and scrawny arms should be cautious of the SD50 though. ;)

Don’t see the point of you comment. I wasn’t comparing the LV to the SD43, simply saying buy what you want and not the hype. I bought the LV cause I love it and it was different to my otherwise black dial dominated collection. My wrist size is 7” and can easily pull off the SD43 but I prefer the LV. My reply was in response to the OP.

Should I keep my new SD43 126600?

Does it ever? I’ve yet in 10 years and dozens of purchases had a watch grow on me that hasn’t sang to me from the get go.

I’ve had the opposite though, where I’ve purchased a watch that I knew I had do have but then I grew out of it.

I understand your dilemma. I patiently waited and bought the SD43 for my 50th as I used to own a seadweller many years ago. As much as I liked it I found my taste had changed and I preferred a smaller watch. I've now replaced it with a Sub LV which I find far more comfortable and easier to wear and looking ahead to add a Nautilus. The SD43 is a great watch but just go with your gut feeling.

Thank you all for your perspective and advice.

After trying on the SD43 again at home, I found that for me it wore a little too top-heavy. Gorgeous watch otherwise. Plus, the SubC is my daily sidekick at home, at work, in the gym, everywhere.

So the Sub remains with me, and the SD will soon have a new home.

Keep them both if you can. I think the Sub can double as a business casual and even formal watch and the SD43 as true sports watch. Edit: see you made decision. Sub is a great watch and can't go wrong with

Keep it, depending on your wrist size the subc might end up being the one to go.

Do you have a wrist shot? Same size as me and I wonder if the 43 is too big. I have flat wrists. Thx!🤙

There is no collectibility in those pieces, and no potential for an investment. This is my opinion. Plus, it is very difficult for the average guy to buy a watch and sell it for a profit. In theory everything it is easy, but when it is time to find the buyer and trust him, everything changes. See around.. How many people try to sell a car by themselves? They trade them in to get a different one, a better one..Tomorrow Rolex may increase the production of all the ss watches (... and it will eventually happen), and a plenty people will start to sell all these watches that could never afford. It is my opinion, and only my opinion, that all that is a huge bubble.
You do not like it? Sell it. At the end of the day it is an item, you know (your watch has no sentimental value, you have just bought it)..... Watches are made to be on a wrist, not in a safe.

A couple of days ago, I stopped at my favorite local AD in the US, and they showed me a new SD43 from the back room. I am a relatively good customer there. After mulling it over a fair bit, I bought it. Now I am questioning the WISdom of my decision.

I could either

1. Keep it. It has the Mk1 dial (mild rarity) and it is a great looking tool watch. Arguably the best wearable diver Rolex or anyone makes. (SDDS is not wearable for my wrist at least.) I like the bezel better than the SubC. I can sell it (at mild premium or minimal loss?) in the future if I really do not like it. Although if the economy turns or the bubble busts, I may be stuck with it for years.

2. Sell it now while it's unworn. It was an impulse purchase, and the money is not inconsequential to me. It is also bulkier and heavier than my SubC date, and I do not see it replacing the Sub as my daily wearer. On my wrists, 39-40mm is ideal. In fact, other than occasionally wearing the SD as a statement / fun watch I don't see when I will wear it, and I have other watches for that purpose. Although who knows, I may grow to like it.

What is your advice? Please add some "because" reasoning. Especially those of you who also have Subs, where does the SD fit in?
If you didn't really want the watch and it doesn't ring your chimes then there's no need to keep it. It's a nice watch and their might be some on the forum who'd like access to one!!! Reasoning is that it makes no sense to hold on to an expensive watch if it doesn't really tickle you.

If you have to ask then you already know the answer.

Get rid of it and buy something you can't go without.
