You need to try them on... I was convinced the 41DJ was for me...

Left the store with a 36mm

I would go 40 because of the new movement and ceramic tubes in the bracelet to help prevent stretching.

Aren't the ceramic sleeves in the 36 as well? I thought that's pretty much across the board on PM bracelets. Not sure but that's what I recall.

I'd go with the 40 for the modern look.

The 36mm day date was worn by men for over 50 years before the modern larger 41mm and 40mm came out. Now it's "too small" I stand by my DD 36. I have a 7 1/4 inch wrist and Weigh 265.

36mm for sticks.

40 if you want a roman dial.

Exactly.

36mm without question, it is THE DD, and timeless.

Bigger watches are a flash in the pan trend.

36mm is classically elegant, DD40 has more dial options.
I can't have an olive rose gold DD36

I think the updated bracelet in DD40’s make it a winner versus the 36

Having said the vintage 36 looks too small and you’re used to the updated 40 - which fits perfectly, that’s obviously the one I think you should buy. Double whammy better fitment and upgraded bracelet and movement.
However I note you’ve not stated which you will buy!

The two watches are poles apart. Had you said I can’t decide which looks best on my wrist, I would say stage a sit-in at your friendly AD until you can decide, or base your decision on some other criteria.
You could choose the 40 for its Chronengy escapement ceramic insert bracelet and for being more with the times.
You could choose the 36 as it’s cheaper and more vintage looking.
You could also choose the 36 for the multitude of dials available over the years, seeing as you’ve not stated if the 36 would be new or not. Stella, semi precious stone, wooden, meteorite, non-index gemstone dial, mother of pearl, molten Roman numerals rather than faceted, pyramid, Tridor etc.
Confucius would say, “Chinese man go to bed wearing what he likes, not what his dog likes!”
Btw, I’m more beauty than function so would eschew the 40 for a preused 36 with a killer dial.
Regards

Nope. Pretty sure it's the only the 40 and the PM Sky Dwellers.

I'll happily stand corrected if wrong, however.

The only reason why Suge Knight was wearing a 36mm is because 41 and 40mm DDs didnt exist then. LOL

Otherwise 100% he would be wearing the larger one.

I tried on a 36mm on my 6.75 inch wrist and thought it looked lost on me.

I ended up with the 40mm and couldn't be happier.

40mm is the way to go. I've now had 4 of these - the new generation DD40s are just superb.

Day date 40 or 36mm

To me, 36 is elegant and classic. 40 is modern and beautiful. If meant to be worn with formal attire and to black tie events, I would go with 36. If meant to be worn all around and in casual settings, 40 would be my choice.

Some small guy deciding to wear a big watch, or some big guy deciding to wear a small watch, will not affect my decision on what I think looks good on me.

In the same predicament. Great feedback on both the 40mm crowd and the 36mm crowd.

I prefer 40, but both are great and 36mm would work well on a 6.5er.
