Got to have the real thing - same as the ice cream, just doesn’t taste as good anywhere else outside Italy.

Also worth a try and what I will often order now is Pizza Bianca - just the base with salt, olive oil and some rosemary. The best.

Born and raised in California , I know places with pretty good pizza . My mother was from New York and when I visit my cousins, the pizza in N.Y. Is incredible. So it’s good vs. incredible .

I’m all about the Detroit style deep dish.

Best pizza I ever had was a fire oven cooked Greek pizza in Greece. Had fresh kalamata olives, basil, feta and Gyro meat. I generally go for cheese, but the toppings really worked on that one

I see Pizza like I see BBQ these days, there are the regional styles that people start with but chefs and restaurateurs are doing their own thing. Hybrid-ing different aspects and making their own creations so you can say the BBQ or pizza is "styled" after a certain region but each entity is its own beast now and its own interpretation unless you are in Texas, North Carolina, KC, NYC, Chitown or Naples. My fav styles:

1. New Haven CT
2. South Shore Bar Pies (Massachusetts)
3. NY style (Generic for thin crust)

SS Bar and New Haven respectively

While a huge fan of pizza, I was not aware of this Chicago vs New York type of pizza deal.

I just looked it up on google and both pizza styles look delicious haha

If I had to pick though, I prefer thin crust for most days, so I'll vote New York.

NY is good and prefer to eat that one more often but if I had to choose which one is better tasting I'd go with Chicago. Deep dish is a full meal while NY tends to be a quick on the go eat.

Piombino, Italy...During our road trip.
It was Fantastic...one of the best pizzas we ever had. Of course it was the whole romance of being in Italy...

As born and raised Chicagoan I can say that deep dish is for out of towners. Chicago does have some excellent thin crust pizza btw.

Love anchovies on pizza. Italy may do the best pizza but new york is heaven for a foodie.

When it comes to pizza I don’t rule out any version. I’ve had memorable pies in NYC, Chicago, New Haven and Napoli to name drop some notable places. All excellent in their own way. The old saying is that pizza is like sex: When it’s good, it’s really good. And when it’s bad it’s still pretty good.

Very true. In fact I think this might even be more true about pizza.

Chicago style way too rich and cheesy for me. Pass.

NY all the way. There is an Excellent place a block or two behind the downtown Marriot straight out the back door by the Starbucks that is more than great! Just cannot recall the name.
