Rural Rolex Morning
Headed out to check on a 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint yesterday for my son since his 1962 Comet got wrecked. I figured the Falcon was worth a look. I had only heard about it... hadn't actually seen it. It was about 30 miles from my house beside a barn in farm country.
Uh, no... The Falcon was bad. The frame had been bent at sometime in its life, the glass had been robbed and the floors were gone. I will keep looking. The morning was beautiful though.

Funny enough, the owner didn't want pictures taken. I am not sure what he was afraid of, there was nothing left of the car of any value. He was a 83 year old farmer who thought he had a gold mine.

Any day you have a beautiful drive in farm country is a great day. I nearly *always* take the 'long way' time-wise through farm / horse country vs. the faster 4-lane. |

Really sad to see some beautiful cars go to waste. The one that really killed me was a 1932 Ford Sedan Delivery that had been converted to an Ice Cream Truck, probably in the 1940's. It sat under a tarp beside a house that was on my paper route as a kid. I spoke to the old guy 4 or 5 times over the years and tried to buy it...Nope, he was "going to get to it". 40 years on, the old guy died, his son left the car to sit, the body rotted away and collapsed under it's own weight. The tarp had trapped moisture year after year. Broke my heart.
