I'd like to...

thank everyone I've pestered for info last 2 weeks.
Special thanks to Brian who baby sat me at the AP boutique and Wempe.

The 5167 came in today and its still as beautiful as I saw it at the AD!

I'm not saying this because I'm trying to justify the crazy purchase
(my ex would've said.. 'are you crazy??? we could have donated the money to ASPCA).
Design wise, I find this watch to be very 'clean' and well balanced.
As others had already mentioned the way the light plays on the dial is unreal.. subtle but very unique!

I had a difficult time of choosing this watch over the Naut.
After looking at the 5711 for a while, there's just too many horizontal elements going on (dial and fin thingys on left side of case) which makes the watch look 'squat'. Its like heavier women should not wear horizontal strips.

In any event, anyone know how to remove the pins on the clasp?
Is it just a normal push pin?
Cut rubber and re attach??

Ting
oh btw, the box the watch came in is almost worth the price of admission! LOL

Congratulations on your choice of the 5167.

In the short time that I wore was one, I was extremely impressed with everything about it. But the two features that stand out are:

The dial, what a stunning colour and one changes with different light.

And the lume, there are two different shades, one for the batons, which easily last ALL night and the numbers, which only glow for a short while.

In any event, anyone know how to remove the pins on the clasp?
Is it just a normal push pin?
Yes, from memory, anyway I didn't use any special tools, apart from a very thin point.

Cut rubber and re attach??

Yes, but very importanly TAKE YOUR TIME, I have read stories of collectors, who have rushed the job and ended up with one rubber strap TOOO small.

Have fun :)

Regards

Tony

No need to take the strap of the lugs, just take the deployant clasp off of the strap ends. Take your time, and don't cut to much of the strap. Leave a bit when it gets hot and the wrist swells.

You may find you will need to cut more fromone side than the other to center the clasp. I did my own and it wasn't too bad. I did find some pointed wooden scewers came in handy when forcing the strap ends back into the deployant clasp though.

Look forward to seeing some wrist PICs, Congrats.
