Omega easily outperforms. I would go so far as to say they are better than rolex in some ways. Certainly their movements are and that's a big proportion of the cost. There is a wonderful image going around that clearly illustrates the pecking order of many watch brands. I've posted it here.

So many opinions here are based on preference and it seems so many people know little to nothing about the Breitling movements, heritage and history. That had to be the case when some say Omega by a long shot. I have no idea what you’re talking about. OP both are absolutely great companies and make outstanding watches. I own both.

100%! I have a Speedy but also want a Navitimer. But in a very small collection, is having two chronographs overkill?

Not sure I agree with this chart. Breitling isn’t on the same playing field as a Rolex.

No? I guess it’s just a taste thing. I think some Navitimers and even the heritage Super Ocean look even more beautifully made than many Rolex, on the level of Grand Seiko. But hey, I do love Rolex.

Omega has more innovations and track record. Breitling only has the navitimer

Agreed. I think most people would have issues with some of the brand placements of this graphic.

I own and happily enjoy both brands. Both will keep excellent time, and will last longer and are tougher than you expect. Picking the right style and model is usually where it is most critical to evaluate which is better. For example, Speedmaster vs. Navitimer.

For pilot watches, Breitling and IWC are my favorites. If you love Rolex, but not the price, check out the Explorer I. It checks all boxes, and is in the same price range as Breitling and Omega.

I think it's worth pointing out as an avid omega supporter that j really do like this dial.

Maybe not but i think it possibly fails into the same broad group of "luxury" watches.

Disagree. This reasoning could then put Sinn and TH with Rolex. And Bremont? Seriously? I think not.

On par. Depending on model some are better than others. For a chrono id go breitling, i prefer non 7750 based. A diver slight edge to omega but there are some great breitling divers like the steelfish.

I would not believe this “by a mile” stuff. Owned both for years. In practice both r great watches that will provide years of service.

Not really, when you consider available discounts for both Omega and Breitling.

Omega and Breitling are similar in more ways than they differ.

Both make quality watches that will be serviceable for generations.

Omega has the better range of movements and those movements are arguably more advanced.

Both brands suffer terribly from immense overproduction of references. Way too many references are in their lineups and they build too many of each.

This forces dealers to dump dead unsaleable stock to jobbers who blow it out online @ 40% off retail in some cases. That is absolutely toxic and in today’s market leads to a repulsion of the brand by the general buyer. Those watches should never have been made, but it’s tough to reverse course as their manufacturing is geared to scale of large production amounts..
