What's normal accuracy for manual wind Rolex?
What's normal accuracy for a manual wind Rolex? I have a 6694 and even after service which included it being timed and regulated it still looses around 20 secs a day. I am experimenting with leaving it in different positions and would appreciate anyones opinion who has owned a manual wind type or any Techies that know

That is not right.
A 6694 Oyster Date should keep accurate time after service. Obviously not done by RSC. |

No, unwilling to wait up to 2 months just for a service! It was much the same as before in fact. Watch repairer was great on the phone and appears to have done a good job overall but now has stopped answering emails! But that's an aside... anyone else??

Sounds like they billed you for the regulation but didn't do one.
I would go visit face to face.

Would love to but it's the other side of the country! Service was done via post. Actually the company enclosed a printout of the sheet showing the result of the timing performed. I don't have a scanner but could photograph the result and perhaps post a picture in this thread. I'll be honest, it all looks quite complicated to me so maybe someone more capable could decode it. I'll try and do that after I get home from work.

Does it really matter what a piece of paper says when it's pretty obvious that the "watchmaker" pulled a fast one on you?

You could be right MonBk, but I'd like to think that the guy is not being dishonest. On the phone he came across as genuine and very helpful. But I accept he may have slipped up, even if not deliberately. Perhaps I'm being too nice!

Good point! It was fairly well packed, so there was nothing about the packaging that was substandard. Also it has not been "clonked" or dropped etc since getting it back...

You could be right. But I hope not. Anyway, still looking for opinions on typical accuracy for a manual wind type.

It should be better say within 10 seconds or so but and this is a big one you had your watch serviced not restored, to bring it in better the balance should be replaced as well maybe a gear or 2. If you were to do a tune up on a 45 year old car you know new plugs wires etc. you would not expect it to have the same power it did when it was new do you I doubt it. Now rebuild the motor and you're back to square one. I know you're not trying to throw this guy under the bus but I don't believe Rolex would garantee the watch to within 15 seconds a day without a new gear train and balance staff. JMO Rik

However, a proper service should have included a new balance, pallet, worn gears, jewels, or any other part that was out of tolerance... but, of course, it's a bit late now to worry about such things... Your watch is fairly easy to regulate... Just take it to a local watchmaker/Dealer and have it regulated. It's a common and inexpensive operation.....

IMO- your best bet would be to send it into an RSC- they warranty their work...
(Also, you can be assured they're using authentic Rolex parts.)

That comment's a little harsh- and in no way helping the OP.

Hi Marc, thanks for comments. You are right of course about the RSC, will definitely consider this next time. I have resolved to phone the chap up and just say look, this watch needs regulating, will you do under g'tee? He was very approachable before and I had several nice chats with during the service...

Just spoke to watch repairer this morning...he is happy to receive it back and is confident it's just a case of re-regulation, says he will do it under g'tee without charge...just as well really!

Had my watch re-timed by someone else more local to me last week. Now it keeps amazing time, better than ever, within approx 3 seconds a day!
