I've been searching for the right Journe for a long time. I've ended up with an Octa RDM, plat 40mm, WG dial, from 2008. At first sight it looks rather uninteresting, but the finish is amazing and the RG movement is unbelievable. Mind you, the serious collectors want the brass movement.

They are really quite hard to find. Rolex put out 1,000,000 watches per year, PP 50,000, FPJ less than 1000.

That would be my choice without a doubt but since impossible to get I went with the other ex Patek mastermind Mr. Ferrier.

I had the chance to try on this beauty yesterday. The FPJ RG colour is very special, something between YG and RG.

Iīm currently thinking about adding a dressy PM watch on strap to my collection so I look around. There are other candidates though and Iīm not in a hurry.

But I must say I was really impressed with the FPJ and it ticks a lot of boxes for me, although Iīd prefer to have a date over a power reserve indicator.

Assuming 40mm is the right size for you, then you’ll want to look at the Octa RdM, which has both PR and date.

Thanks, but the position of the date window is not for me on the Octa RdM. If I get a FPJ, it will be the CS.

More difficult will be the choice between RG and platinum.

The Octa RdM 40mm in platinum is the one I have. It was discontinued two years ago. There's still the odd new one knocking about.

Felix that CS in R/G is stunning.

What other pieces, if I may ask, are also up for consideration?

If I really decide to purchase a RG reference it might also be a 5227R or 5205R with ivory dial.

Unfortunately I didnīt have the chance to see the FPJ in platinum yet.
