The VC is like 2 levels up in the horological order. However the LV is discontinued. Just keep the LV and buy the VC. Make payments if you have to.

I would do the trade. VC is at another level and the Hulk you purchased in 2013 has close to doubled in price. Figure out what the trade value of each is and then back out what you paid for the Submariner and you have the cost of the VC to you. At that price you can not get hurt. The Hulk is great but there are thousands out there and I do believe that the watch will settle at some point to between 12-14k once things calm down. Give the VC a try. It is a great watch.

The title is misleading. In his post he didn’t say it was a trade. He would buy the VC then sell the hulk. What’s the wholesale on the hulk these days?

I'm glad VC is not playing games like the rest. If you're getting a VC, value retention should be the last thing on your mind. Get it for its quality and craftsmanship. They are seldom seen out and about. Seems like most people I've met is wearing a sub these days. Not a bad thing but just a bit more common and too recognisable.

I too am thinking of selling off the hulk, perhaps for the VC American 1921. And I don't have to buy other jewellery and play the AD games.

I would trade it for the VC, especially the blue dial

I'm a bit biased since the VC is one of my long term goals and I've never liked the hulk so yeah I'd have sprinted to the VC by now

While I am not the biggest fan of the Hulk I prefer it over the VCO from a purely aesthetic point of view. The VCO is too blue for my taste and I like blue watches if the color is a little less "aggressive". I also find the VCO too big compared to other luxury sports watches and in absolute terms for my wrists.

Also agree with the points below. The VCO three-hander w date just doesn't look good in my eyes, unlike say the 222.

I have a hulk and a VC overseas dual time - I love the hulk, but in terms of actual wrist time the overseas wins by a mile.

If you are ready to give this hulk up for anything, this seems like a great option. The rubber strap is hard to beat.

Definitely do it. I’ve owned both and got rid of the hulk. Zero regrets. 4500V is much nicer.

Personally very biased. I own the VCO blue and I would recommend it 100%, maybe 105%. There is so much watch for the money...and then the strap changes an additional plus. i just cannot seem to take it off my wrist.
The Hulk (I may get hate for this) is not even the same league.

The only play for keeping the Hulk is if the insanity continues and it doubles in price. even then, it will not make a material difference in your life selling it for twice than it is 10 years down the road....and for those ten years, you will have some blue magic. Always preferred blue over green...

I’ve done this swap - back in April I decided I wanted a VC and my brother wanted a hulk. Whilst the hulk is a lovely watch there’s no comparison to the VC. The quality of it is fantastic and the 3 strap options make it a game changer. As for the blue popping in the sunlight - wow! Fortunately for me, I was called about the new green sub a while back which I prefer as I it’s the perfect amount of green for me :-)

Personally I wouldn’t, the VC doesn’t rank higher than the Hulk in my opinion.

But go for it, you have an itch for something new and the VC will mix it up. It’s going to cost you to reverse it if you end up regretting it.

Well yeah, for a chrono in a heartbeat, or less.

But that’s not the trade the OP is talking about.

I'm clearly in the minority here, but I predict you will miss the Hulk. It's not what you asked, but I'd get rid of the Daytona in a heartbeat! I'm not into the "investment" threads, but I strongly disagree with the idea of the Hulk being a 9G watch as suggested by some.

The VC is certainly the finer watch but I don't think I'd get rid of the LV to get one. Personally, I wouldn't get rid of either the white Daytona C or the LV; I'd save up for the blue VC and that would make for a really great three sports watch collection.

Trade Hulk for Overseas 4500V

OP what do you like more currently?

Example I’m not a fan of the new sub and I told my AD no to a blk one and the new LV I just don’t like the size and band size etc.. the new sub dose nothing to me I’m not hating on it I’m
I different the the new sub.

I’m bringing this up because this was not the case when the hulk came out I immediately wanted that watch and I bought it a few years after it was released and when I bought the Hulk I loved the piece the dial was amazing to me and still is today, that’s why I said earlier I wouldn’t trade mine for the VCO.

Recently I ordered a blue VCO and I bought a black one that was in store. I was really second thinking myself because in pictures the dials look very similar. But no; the dials are different and pictures don’t do justice. I have been wearing it on off for about a month or so and I just love it; it’s simple and clean.

The watch is awesome, and yes the VCO is on a whole different level than the hulk, but again I wouldn’t trade my hulk for the VCO.

But hey if the hulk dose not rock your world anymore go for it and don’t expect complements on your trade. Wear it and enjoy it!! You will get one (maybe) out of 10 complements on the trade. Because a lot of people want the hulk because its unobtainable in an AD, and naturally you want, what you can’t have..

Have great and safe weekend everyone!! Finish your holiday shopping and get those turbomans!!

Thank you so much for all your advice and input folks! Based on what many of you write about the Hulk, I lean towards keeping it and rather save up to buy VC further down the road.

Happy holidays! Stay safe.

I’d do it in a heart beat- you’re comparing holly trinity with a tool watch that you have used for 7 yrs. it’s a straight forward choice imho

Yes, go for it. I'd rather have the VC Overseas 4500v over the Rolex Submariner Hulk anyday.
