I haven't owned a blue dialed either so I think it's the best choice for me too. Haven't seen it live though but I have a guess that the colour shifts in different lights? :)

The first RO back in 72 was a slate blue dial. Other colors came later. The blue on the 15400 shifts from blue to gray to black depending on lighting conditions.

You should really see them live if you can. The 15202 is another nice option but a bit harder to get.

Is the blue dial on 15300 same as on yours?

I've thought about a RO for about 2-3 years and after trying on a white and black, I wanted a black dial. That was during the beginning and never pulled the trigger.

As I continued my watch purchases, I found myself thinking more about the RO and started looking for a black dial again. One day I go to the boutique and try on a blue dial for the heck of it. Amazing. I knew blue was perfect for me. In most lighting it's a slate color but with hints of blue. Dark like I prefered, with a hint of something different from all my other black dials.

I had also went with a 15400. I started off looking for a 15300 because it seemed harder to get due to the disco but the more time that went by, the more I realized looks wise, I prefered the 400, and getting a 300 just because they didnt make anymore seemed a bit more mute.

Blue 15400 it was!

Nice story. Seems like the blue dials are now boutique only, which is lock step with other brands trying to keep certain editions from going to the ADs.

I also like the 400 just a tad better. Particularly the hash marks at 12. They're both beautiful though.

Wow, that blue really stands out. I was always leaning towards a white/silver dial for either the 15300 or 15400 but that makes me reconsider my color choice for the dial.

Blue is the color for AP RO and you chose well. I really like this piece but got the 15202 instead for the classic size and movement and of course the deeper blue which I prefer. This piece you have is now boutique only and limited production.

Stunning. 15400 blue dial is the quintessential Royal Oak.

Nice! I love the blue on RO's although this blue is very different I think from the blue on the 15300.

Would love to see them side by side...

I agree the watch is beautiful.
reliable movement (believe me, I am a watchmaker)
I think stainless steel case is better than white gold, because white gold Audemar Piguet is covered with rhodium. After 5-10 years stainless steel case can be polished in any A.P service center, but gold with covering can be restored only in Switzerland.

If you shave hands , the watch will look much better)))
