If you buy all from the same AD they will move you up on their list for the Daytona. Could well be done in six months.

Good luck. Buying that many you might get some kind of discount buying all from the same AD.

My two cents, would not hold yourself to a deadline. Reduce the pressure, relax and enjoy!

Not sure you've actually tried these all on as it sounds like you are just going for the popular models right now. So I wouldn't rush to get these but try on all the Rolex models and be sure which are the ones you personally like most.

sounds like a good plan, but go slow and enjoy the ride. Also, 3/22/18 is when we get to find out what new models come out...so save some ammo

Good plan - and an awesome set of watches to be targeting. Hope you have the willpower to stop once you get there!

The watches I intend to obtain are:
GMT BLNR
LV Sub
Daytona ceramic (white or black)
Sea Dweller or deep Sea Blue
All watches will be acquired via an AD at MSRP.
I have a strategy in place based on everything I have read on the TRF. And I have set a time frame of six months to complete the above.
Will keep you informed of my progress or lack thereof. Pictures will be included when the watches are acquired.
Not part of the above plan but will be in the Netherlands, Germany and England in December and will check out the ADs in those countries. I do not expect to acquire any of the above watches during this trip but you never know.
Acquired my GMT Master ii BLNR and continuing my search for the remainder. Pics enclosed of my 19 year old Datejust and the new BLNR acquired from an AD no discount but sales tax waiver. Returned from Amsterdam, Germany, and the UK no sports models anywhere.

Keep the faith and keep on the journey. It will be tough for sure. I am new here and about to purchase my first so I can't fathom getting multiples. However, I'm sure over the sixth months it will seem impossible but reading this forum has taught me to keep the faith and it's amazing what can happen.

I have purchased two Rolexes in the past two years & I plan buying another one in 2018. I thought I was finished buying for a few years after buying a Rolex Sub T/T Blue Dial & Bezel 116613LB & Daytona T/T White Dial with Gold Sub Dials 116503, but a few weeks ago I was passing a Rolex AD in my City & decided to take a look at their stock & immediately fell in love with another Daytona 116503, it's very similar to the one I have but different in it's own way. It has the White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial & decided I had to have it. I buy my Watches from a Grey Dealer in the North of England it means I have to get the Plane over but it's worth it. Because the Watches I buy are T/T & not in demand I get them at a very reasonable price & they are brand new with all Factory seals intact. I have saved myself somewhere between 3,000 & 3,500 Euro on the two Watches I already have & will be saving about 2,000 Euro on my next purchase. In Dublin Ireland the price of Rolexes is scandalous. The price of the Daytona with the MOP Dial is 20,250 Euro over in Dublin which I would not be prepared to pay. So as far as I'm concerned I think Grey Dealers perform a great service once it's not the S/S Sports Models your looking to buy

I have to agree with this.

If you just happened to buy those watches in a six month period, it would seem to be a more organic process than just setting out in advance to buy them in that time frame.

There's nothing wrong with setting goals, but watch buying in my judgement should be more about the heart than the cerebrum.

Glad you landed the blnr. How do you find it compared to the trusty DJ? I’d say take your time but then I’d be a huge hypocrite

The deadline is soft, really no pressure. Wearing the BLNR daily and really enjoying it. The Datejust is a totally different feel, but as my first Rolex, it is special. Will wear it this evening for New Years Eve.
Will update my progress ot lack thereof.

Update on my 2018 Plans

Well acquired two more. The hulk was easier to acquire as I had three opportunities, but got it from my local AD. The day I was to pick up the hulk they called and had the Sea Dweller available. Was not sure about it though, down in Fla I tried on the Deep Sea cameran and thought it was too thick. But the Sea Dweller looked and felt good.
The Daytona will be a challenge, but I am thinking around May or June.
The journey has been fun and thanks to all TRM members who gave me very good advice. I had a plan and its paying off.

First purchase in 19 years. Time to complete 6 months. I say impossible.

But wish you luck and say that’s a great collection to aspire towards

That Daytona may require PM purchasing power. PPP

I knew going forward the Daytona was going to be the most difficult. Since I do not have any black or white dial preference that will make it a bit easier (a small small bit). One thing I have realized that dealer lists are unreliable, for example. Visited an AD in Fla, a first visit, let them know I was interested in the hulk and gave them my name and number. A week later I got the call, but my local AD already had one for me.
The hulks, blnr, and deepsea were readily available throughout Fla. Sky Dwellers and Daytonas nowhere to be seen.

Update on my Rolex Plan for 2018

The odyssey is complete. Acquired my Daytona yesterday which makes my acquisitions complete. All of the watches were acquired from my local AD, and prior to my first purchase the BLNR I had no previous relationship with my AD.
Altough it was always my intent to purchase the watches from my AD, I did look at what was available during my travels. In Europe all SS Rolexes were scarce, however in Florida this past Jan and Feb I could have had access to a Hulk and BLNR, the BLNR was actually on display at the AD.
Thanks for all the encouragement I received from TRF. Acquiring hard to get watches takes patience, planning, and luck!.
