Am I insane?

Im considering selling my SS Daytona 116500 White and getting the WG 116519LN steel dial on Oysterflex. Who else would consider something as foolish?

I wouldn’t do it but I don’t think you’re insane for doing so. I’m sure there are plenty of TRFers that would gladly take the SS Daytona off your hands for you

Not at all! I like the WG Daytona over the SS 116500. It's just the price difference that would keep me from doing it if I was in your position. However, if you can sell your SS at a profit to help pay for the WG one, that might work out pretty well.

I prefer PM Rolex Sports models. Also, the 116500 white dial is boring to me. The silver on the WG version is WAY NICER IMHO.

The steel dial is amazing. For me, on par with the white dial 116500. Its just the idea of selling an SS piece for measly WG......Im being facetious but this is where we are today.

I'd do it. I love the dial much better. Not sure about the feel and comfort of the OF over a bracelet though.

Yes. With the prices of the SS Daytonas today, it definitely gets me closer to a price point I'm comfortable with. Im leaning towards doing it.

True. It would be great if Rolex offered the WG oyster bracelet version with the ceramic bezel. Maybe Baselworld 2019

I prefer the PM versions too, but the cost of the oysterflex models feels high for a rubber strap. But granted it's a lot less than the full PM bracelet. Could you pull this off through the gray market for better money than through an AD? I haven't looked at gray prices on the OF Daytona's in a long time, but a trade/flip like this seems made for that route.

I could see owning both. But if you’re going to own just one daytona, the white SS is king.

Not a chance. I’m pretty sure I’m in the way out there minority on this point, but I think it crazy beyond comprehension to pay that kind of money for a watch on a rubber strap. If you love the petroleum that much you can pick up an OF from your AD for about $500-ish. Put that on your 500LN and that’s pretty awesome.

That WG PM reference is absolutely beautiful but I will only get it when it comes out in a bracelet.

On the other hand, a PM Daytona usually gets nicks and deep scratches on the bezel and the bracelet so an Oysteflex PM is actually ideal. I am not helping at all, am I? Apologies haha

Yes Sir! I have a WG reference with the racing dial. It would be perfect with a cerachrom bezel. The WG bezel gets many tiny scratches that makes the watch feel wear sensitive for daily use.

I sold my white 116500 with the intent on getting a 116515 or 116519 but now I want back the white 116500. The 116519 is very comfortable and the pada dial is amazing but it is not legible for my eyes so I think the 116500 is more suited for me and I will switch the oyster bracelet with the oysterflex band when I acquire it. A 116500 on the secondary market is over 20k now so for a little more cheese, you are in the PM Daytona territory.
