Thoughts on Coke GMT

When Baselworld 2018 ended, I was kinda set on the GMT root beer and intended for that to be my next purchase. However, as I did more research, I was getting more drawn to the discontinued GMT Coke. Since this will be my first sports Rolex watch, I kinda want to get some pointers on what people think about the Coke. I am also very new to the forum so go easy on me guys. Thank you.

I love the Coke, but I think it’s less sought after than the Pepsi.

I'd rather have a coke, I prefer the black in the bezel as I think it goes better with the dial. I like the solid black bezel too. Not a fan of PCLs on the newer ones either, one reason I bought a new Expll

I personally like the look of the Coke over the Pepsi. I tried a vintage one on at a jeweler and it was stunning.

Note that coke/pepsi/black inserts are all interchangeable so just go for a 16xxx model and go crazy.

Same. If I were in the market for a gmt it would be either a ceramic ln or a 16710 coke.

With the interchangeability, I am not really familiar with customization so this is something I need some advice on. Is it difficult to do it and will it affect the warranty? Sorry if I sound ignorant.

Do you think the Coke will probably rise in value in the near future? Just want to know your thoughts.

YouTube is pretty much all you need (along with a wealth of information on this forum about the bezel changing subculture). Doesn’t take long to do.

The main reason is my completely subjective opinion in regards to which models I find most attractive. To my eyes, the coke is slightly more subdued and cooler than the Pepsi and same goes for the LN as compared to the BLNR. I just prefer sleek pieces. All awesome watches though!

I had a coke with no lug holes (later version 16710) and loved it.

I’d go the 16710 coke route as it’s one of the all around best watches.

It already did. The asking prices nowadays r almost double from last year. I feel it has reached its peak. Whether it will continue to rise, let me check my crystal ball.

I blame it on autoconnect.

Thoughts on Coke GMT

Hate it !

Try to find all 3 bezels and presto. You’ll have 3 different looks. Add a nice Jubilee Bracelet and 6 different looks

One of the reasons for it being the ultimate sportswatch - Ceramic can't have it. Ha.

Most of what you need to know, has been said here.

The ceramic GMT's are nice looking pieces. They do however, IMHO appear
to be 'trying too hard'. The 16710 Coke is, for me, the more elegant watch and is an all time classic.
That said, as soon as I can get a 'new' Ceramic Coke at an acceptable price, I will probably bite the bullet and get some company for my beautiful, beautiful,
16710.

Dare I say it, I prefer it to the older Pepsi. Still waiting to see the new Pepsi though.

I love the Coke almost the same as the Pepsi version, if I had the means I would pick up the first original Coke 16760 Fat lady to accompany my 16710.

Honestly unless you are buying as a speculator , the coke and Pepsi are the same watch , just different bezel. Same exact watch. Any Rolex dealer can swap a bezel for you in a few minutes. I bought a coke , and then bought an OEM Pepsi insert for around $90. Personally I like the coke color scheme better but I enjoy variety.

Ps any 5 digit Rolex is out of warranty by now .
