No newer iPhones in my house. We have 2 iPhone 8 and 2 6s models. Perfect for us.

We might upgrade when usb-c, more RAM, some sort of fingerprint ID, and a notch-less screen are added.

Mine will be delivered on Friday, unfortunately I won't be home to accept the delivery. I'll be on a plane going to Orlando. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios will be calling my name for my birthday weekend.

That midnight green beauty can wait until Monday. Can't wait to do the Ghostbusters haunted house!

You can read more in the 2nd link I posted.

I have done dozens of upgrades for myself and family and there is always some little hiccup if you have a lot of settings beyond the default. The reason is each new iOS may handle some personalization twist a little differently that its predecessor.

On your pre-migration process, I suggest a few steps before the 2 backups you mentioned. (I do agree with a backup to Mac + iCloud just in case).

My pre-backup suggestions are:
1. Update your Mac’s iTunes app to current version.
2. Sync all photo, video, music and files stored on the old iPhone (not those in iCloud) via iTunes to your Mac.
3. Update all Apps on the old iPhone that need it.
4. Force quit all Apps on the old iPhone (yes, I know the Apple help desk says otherwise)
5. Reset network settings on old iPhone.
6. Reboot the old iPhone.
7. Do your backups to Mac and iCloud (I suggest all these pre-backup steps so you get the cleanest backup possible)

If that sounds like prepping for a colonoscopy, you’re not far wrong. The iPhone Apps that store partial data and other processes can cause a backup to have corrupted data and/or backup segments.

Remember the reason we back-up is to have a perfect copy just in case the old phone fails to do its part during a migration. In such cases, the new iPhone can always be built from that back-up. And you don’t want bad data going into the new iPhone.

BTW, probably goes without saying but if you’re running a jailbreak- you must revert to a clean iOS install.

Verizon moved 1 of our phones to shipping - the other is still pending.

I ordered mine through Verizon if that matters. I bet you are right with UPS holding, they have it down to an exact science. I’m still hoping for early delivery though!

Files are there, just not the download of it and i have to do it via wifi not a physical connection

I found a good trick a few phones and Ipads back.

1. Close out all apps.
2. Clear RAM reboot.
3. Backup
4. Backup again
5. Backup again
6. Backup again

This will sort out all the missed data in your backup copy from your backups and restore should be perfect. 1st backup takes time. Other backups get faster and faster.

Have done this to:
3 of my phones. 2 ipads.
3 of wife’s phones and 2 ipads
2 ipads for my kid.

Wow, didn't actually think these ship literally from China. I thought they were on US or your domestic soil just waiting to be sent.

Nah, Apple has always direct shipped from China for iPhone releases. I used to upgrade every year and they always came direct from overseas. Cheaper for Apple to express them direct rather than slow-boating them to the US, then shipping from here.

I still have nightmares from those old pre-order fiascos. It took years for Apple and AT&T to get their act together.

If we've reached a point where better cameras is all we're getting each year, I'll probably have my XS for years to come. Only thing I can think of at this point that would make me swap would be a high refresh rate screen.

I would have to imagine Apple giving their "Pro" phones 90 or hopefully 120hz screens next year. As well as USB C. The cable this year (usb C to lightning) is an absolute joke and something only a company like Apple could do with a straight face.

They are hardly Pro this year, buy I guess they had to push the naming.

Upcoming iPhone 11 Release

got a feeling the Houston deliveries are getting delayed.

Raised the suspension all the way up and did the rock crawl program barely got through.

My oldest picked a terrible day to get sick at school as I had to get there. No way we get mail... the pic would have been better on the new camera

Knowing Apple, you can forget about 90Hz or higher refresh screens. They couldn't even give the damn phone reverse wireless charging. Maybe.......maybe, next year we'll see usb-c but even that is questionable.
There must be something to it though because even Samsung passed on it for this year. The only real great phone for this year is the S10+ 5G. That thing is a beast although the 5G part is really useless for now.
Note 10 just played catch up to the S10 which is a first, nothing eye opening and the 11 Pros just got an ultra wide lens camera and time of flight sensors. Welcome to 2019.

For some unbelievable reason I decided to buy the Pro Max, and now something tells me I'll regret it going from a Note 8. Good thing iPhones retain value because I see a flip coming next year. If they just add usb-c next year, everyone will call it the "BEST" iPhone evererrr.....again, welcome to 2016 Apple.

I downloaded it earlier. Pretty cool update. Dark mode is sweet. The iOS is snappier.

Nope, today is the drop date.

My iPhone 11 Pro 64gb Space Gray is enroute for delivery tomorrow

It’s strange because the kids iPads say their software is up to date at the last version of 12

it was the worst flooding i have ever been in, by a lot.

No one was ready either. One of my kids schools was cancelled yesterday and nothing really happened. So they opened it today. This afternoon all hell broke loose.

Got something like 7 inches in a couple of hours.

being able to raise the RR up was very helpful. I saw a couple of smaller cars with water up to the windows and that was surface streets... the interstates were a river apparently

They bifurcated the software into iPad OS and iOS, possibly soon a third offshoot for RISC Mac OS.

Awesome Pic -- if you don't mind I'd love to post it to OffRoadRover.com with credit to you.

this software update seems messy. I can't even back up my iOS13 iPhone on my mac without some supplemental software update that the mac now needs... in addition to the normal software update i installed two hours ago. They usually have it more together than this.

as for the pic, sure, i don't mind.

Just saw the news honestly had no idea it was as bad or wouldn’t have made such jovial remarks!

Hope everyone is safe
