Moving on is hard!!! {Rolex Submariner 16610}

Every now and then I catch myself missing my good old Sub 16610.

Like an old ex girlfriend that you had to let go knowing its for the best!!!

Anybody else feel some remorse for a piece they've had to let go?

Of course it doesn't help when you look at the pics...…

I don't, but I would understand if I had to part with one. I have a 16618 that I love and don't think I'd ever get rid of.

I'm sad that I let my Hulk go for less than it's going for now.

I let go a 16613LB that I adored, I was just too chicken to wear it and beat it up the same way I do my 16710. Also, it definitely was flashy, and at times I felt a bit ridiculous wearing it.

That thing was mint though, and I miss it everyday. I feel like it’s the kind of watch I’m going to buy again, but maybe when I’m a little older.

FOR SURE.

Cool pic.

I had a GMT that I went through some amazing good and bad times with and a Polar Explorer ll that I climbed with and rode with on some amazing trips and because I don't have the cash to keep them all, I let them go to fund others.

The moral of the story for me now is, live in the present and realize the new experiences the current pieces are going through along with me and DO NOT SELL!

Just got a Blue BB58 on the suede blue strap for my birthday from my wife, I should get it engraved so I'm never tempted to launch it...

At least it sounds good.

Also...

I just got the newest Sub C black no date and it reminds me the most of the older 5 digits. Larger but, when I look at it I instantly remember the older ones and how they made feel.

For what its worth.

Not the 16610 but the 14060M for me. I used mine as part of trade for 16610LV. Love the Kermit but really do miss the no date. I've since acquired a new 41mm no date Sub but it doesn't quite do it for me like the 5 digit.

This is timely for me. Im debating whether to move my 16613lb which was my first and daily for 17 years. I recently got back into the game and compared to my new pieces it just feels dated. Honestly it’s sentiment that’s probably holding me up. I’ve given myself 6 months to decide. For me it’s about wrist time...

I traded my mint 16610 for a 16613lb. I regret it massively it was just serviced when i traded it. I now need to service the 16613. Should have kept what i had.

I had a Datejust since 1984 that I gave to my son that I miss. Staying in the family makes it easier but I cannot go get another Datejust, but it was a classic that I miss ...

I don’t want to steer you in either direction, but I was in the exact same situation. My first Rolex was a 14060 that I had for 17 years. After getting a taste of modern Rolex, I just never wore it anymore. It felt like it was more on par with my Seiko SKX (I’ll probably get banned for saying that).

I sold it and now wear a 124060. I don’t regret it at all. I do think about it sometimes and have fond memories, just like with old friends or girlfriends, but it doesn’t mean I want it back. I know I still wouldn’t wear it now that I have the modern Sub.

But there are a few things about me that might make me different from most TRF’ers. I’m not wealthy so it feels irresponsible to have a bunch of Rolexes, especially the same model. And I’m not a “collector”, that is, I don’t like to have a lot of possessions.

Sorry for the tangent. OP: it’s a beauty of a watch, but there will be many more in your future!

I will always have the Submariner in my foal.....for me it defines Rolex and I can’t imagine not having mine so saving myself some regret by hanging on to it :)
