Newly aquired L series YG sub

Picked up this L series (1989)gold sub, box no papers from a reputable retailer last week. Traded in my F series two tone serti sub and of course plunked down cash. The dial seems to show some spidering under certain light and the camera really picks it up. In other light it looks perfect.

This is a dream for me as my grail was to own a gold rolex in at least 40mm. I really like the green dial yg gmt and I've always loved the TT bluesy.
In finding this, I feel like I got the best of both worlds in an affordable sub in good shape.

Looks fantastic. That GGGMT is a sick looking watch but has a heavy price tag. I think you made a wise choice. I’m glad you were able to acquire a Grail. Congratulations. Very nice bracelet too with no stretch and or sag.

Absolutely splendid, Sir, congratulations.

I have a similar 1994 "S" full set and it's a dream come true, really, each time I put it on my wrist.

This is my second 16618. Had to sell the older one. Be careful, gold is much softer than SS.

If you plan to use it on a regular basis, get an Everest or similar.

Wear it in good health!

Yours is beautiful too. I traded my TT serti sub f series but still have my 166710ln ceramic SS gmt for my daily wearer.

Thank you so much! I'm so happy. Many times I've posted my dream of a gold rolex on this site but never thought it would ever happen and posted that also. I did sell some watches to help fund this, something I never thought I would do but it was totally worth it.

Thanks everyone for the positive responses. I know I'll miss my serti sub as it was my fist rolex and a very unexpected purchase while selling some unused jewelry to a small jewelry chain. I was very surprised that my wife agreed to let me walk out of the store with it.

This gold sub was kind of the same. She only wanted me to spend about 15k and that would probably get me a 36mm president day date. For around 18 to 20 I could get a yacht master but not my favorite although a really nice watch. I prefer some contrast color on the bezel rather than bezel ,case and bracelet being the same color.
So I brought the Mrs shopping with me so she could get a real feel of pricesand she began to see that I wasn't getting what I wanted for the bucks she was offering. I went back to the place I saw this at and tried it on...perfect fit, no adjustment needed. Out of all the watches we saw, for the money, this was the best price for this condition. I had seen a few priced lower but more stretch in the links. And those 3000 to 5000 more were newer but out of my reach financially as I thought this would be also. However, once she saw it on my wrist and the smile on my face, she said OK as I upheld my part of the bargain and sold some watches on a watch site. I was as shocked with this purchase as I was with the TT serti sub because I just didn't expect she would agree until a few more waches of mine sell. But truth is, these are kind of in short supply in the lower price bracket and quality varies greatly.
I got 10 grand for my serti sub and put 12k out for this. I think it was a fair deal on both pieces.

Very nice! The gold yactmasters were far and few between.
I started out looking at them because they seemed a little more affordable. That must be why they are hard to find. Then again so are the older gold subs. New pricing is crazy. I saw the green dial yg gmt preowned. In 2009 they were 24k. Preowned in great condition, they wanted 40k USD

Yea, the 6 digit YG sport watches are getting really expensive. The YM 16628 has a nice sleek profile which makes it both sporty but also dressier than the 116618 and the 116718 which is taller and has chunky lugs...the maxi lume plots is also an extra treat on this blue dial IMO!
