As per Bob's ( https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-serial-numbers ) the 'P' S/N would indicate circa 2000.

Wide price range for that model; so try to get as many details as you can - service history, any other papers, etc.

Back in December a jeweler local to me got one in that looked to have similar wear; no idea about any further details, but it was marked at 23,995 USD when I saw it on a Wednesday and was gone by the weekend when I came back to exchange a strap.

*That shop will haggle, so to clarify I have no idea what that example actually brought, nor do I know how long it had been there.

Looks like it’s been to hell and back. Fair value is what you’re willing to pay.

Too much scratches, I wouldn't pay more than $20k.

It will need a full service soon so you can get a certificate from RSC.

I think that's a fair price for a private sale in the current market. Please note the watch would have originally come with papers rather than a warranty card.

Aside from a "please", reading the forum rules would also be a plus.

I do not see a certificate in the photos so $21k with an almost complete set is pretty damn good in today’s market. And I rarely see a P serial 16520 out there as well which makes the watch even more rare. I would have it polished and serviced by an independent if it were me & highly suggest Ridley, LAWW or Rolliworks. See if he can reduce the price a bit to offset service & polish. Also check if it comes with all 13 links too. Nice score, I would go for it.

A couple of thoughts - he wouldn’t get that price from a dealer. Maybe offer to let you pay for an RSC service and upon return from Rolex pay him the difference. You’ll be sure the watch is in perfect shape. Also, if he is the 2nd or Nth owner, you’ll be assured it isn’t on the theft list and you’ll have a 2yr. Warranty.

I had a chance to purchase one from my local grey dealer back in mid 2019 without papers for $16,000. A year prior it was $13,000. Can't believe how much they have gone up!

I wouldn't pay that much for since it will require an RSC overhaul.

Picked one a few months back, 2003, little/no wear, 18,500. Seller had 2, one he wears everyday similar to yours but 2004 $16,500, worn a lot, full papers. I decided to pay extra 2k and buy the better condition. I value your watch 16-16,500. Search my history to view comments. Good luck.
Yours has the skinny hands, some love it and say value will go up, some hate them, me i’m indifferent.

OP, did you end up buying the watch? I have never seen a Daytona Zenith 16520 with P serial, very very rare. I own an A serial. Would definitely pay 20K + for it, send to RSC for service and light polish.
