Beware of Luxury Trade Group operating out of FL

Had a listing up on Ebay for an Omega 57 and received an Email from a Peter Watson at Luxury Trade Group out of FL. Interested in the watch and was offering me what I wanted for it. Made a deal to send it down with him to check it out and he paid for FedEx overnight and also sent me a purchase order for the amount. Did some searches and things looked good, he has an IG page with 20.k followers, a FB page, etc. So I sent the watch. Stayed in touch the whole way thru and he received the watch. So now he's gone cold and won't return my calls or emails. I've done a little more digging and found the llc was created last June. The numbers he had listed just go to voicemail. I've opened a fraud case with the ITC as well as let the FL Attorney General's office know, and also notified my local LE. Should have listened to the old addage "Buy from established dealers with good feedback".

Was there anything in the PO that stated payment terms? Without it, he has until doomsday to pay.

Being newbie here, getting almost scam myself it's really making me think twice dealing online and all the drama that goes with it. Is it really worth it. It's unfortunate that you/we honest people are the one's getting hurt by this situation, emotionally, mentally and financially. I really don't know nor have answers. It really really SUCKS!

A few thoughts here.

1) Never sell outside of eBay if you’re listing there. You lost all protections once that happened. Are you sure that you’re even shipping to the actual person you think you were speaking with? What address did you ship to? According to FedEx tracking, was it rerouted?

2) Their website lists absurdly expensive Richard Mille watches along with some more interesting Rolex models (see pic). Why would this guy be combing eBay for common Omega models? Watch dealers operate by offering pennies on the dollar and then marking it up 70%.

For what it’s worth you can also contact FedEx and report that the account was used in a fraudulent transaction. Perhaps they’ll suspend it

Thanks for the insight. I am going to reach out to FedEx to see if they can suspend the account.

I'd say spam the hell out of their IG account too, but they have comments disabled. Message them there. Let them know you've made this thread and you plan to make one on every watch forum etc.
See if they have a facebook account you can comment on?

So he reached out to me today and said that the wire will be in the system and processed tomorrow. I've already filed a report with my local police as well as some agencies in FL. So we'll see if this comes to fruit. I don't have much faith but we'll see.

No wire of course. I had filed a complaint with the Miami BBB and they apparently reached him. He said because I filed a report they were just going to send the watch back to me. I said fine and please provide tracking info.

I Got scammed too

I sent my watch in around the same time you posted this. I'm now out $10k for my Rolex.

And yes it sounds stupid AF to send a watch bedofe getting paid however most watch stores operate in this manner as I've worked with Jaztime and other companies with the same method.

He sent an insured FedEx overnight label just like the other places and provided a purchase order as well.

He's been reported to the authorities, feds as it's a mail related crime, and multiple other sources.

A lot of other things are already In motion as well. He better get ready to get raped in jail.

Sorry to hear OP. This name "Pete Watson" has been a big warning in some of the dealer circles, he has even scammed well known dealers in Florida. If you google his name, he is a known jewelry thief and has been arrested multiple times in the past.

Sorry to hear of this. Best of luck to you both.

Apparently the "send the watch and I'll pay you later" is common amongst dealers. I had one try that with me when I was selling my WG Daytona. I said, I think that's great that you guys do that. I don't. He paid me up-front and it was all good.

That’s how it works if you’re selling to a gray dealer.

I’m not sure who the OP is dealing with, but from the name, it sounds like thats what they are.

So sorry to hear this, any updates? Were you able to get the funds or the Omega back?

Unfortunately not, but there are some other folks who have been scammed by this clown and I've been in touch with all of them. He's definitely on the police and FBI's radar now. I'm also posting on other sites warning of this.

Beware guys stockx did this to me to. I had sold a watch on their about 6 months ago. They give you a prepaid label to print out. I packaged it up and sent it. The package got lost now I am stuck in this crazy battle between UPS and stockx. Ofcourse they don't answer emails and got rid of their support system most of it is automated now. Beware stay away from them as well!

Does anyone have info on Peter Watson? He was dating a friend of mine and then stole from/ used me. Any experience of how you sent him money or if you met him in person would be very helpful with the lawsuit against him.

Hello all! It seems they are trying to scam me as well. I have been messaging with a “Pierre Watson” from Luxury Haute Watches on Facebook. His website and insta are all sketchy and a week ago it used to have this number +1 (786) 795-6627 Which os registered to a PETER WATSON. Now they have changed it to an 855 landline. He wanted to meet in a random place with “one of his reps” who would give a company check!!!

I insisted on meeting at their boutique and now he has gone silent.
