249 or 690 Help Me Decide!

As the title eludes to, having a ton of trouble deciding on a 249 or a 690. One on hand I love California Dials and on the other the blue and case of the 690 really speak to me. I have no other PAMs in my collection currently.

What would you do and why? (Aside from the obvious answer of buy both)

As an owner of both that’s a REALLY hard call. I’d look at it like this. If you want a piece of Panerai history, grab the 249 - all day and every day. If you simply want an insanely attractive watch that happens to be a Panerai, go for the 690. Which way do you lean?

File this one under “impossible choice”.

If you can’t have both, some things to think about: Anonymous or classic 3/6/9/12 Panerai dial? Matte black or sunburst blue? Wire lugs or Luminor lugs? Plexi or sapphire? Two or three hands? Onion crown or regular crown? Blued or gold hands? ETA or in-house?

Either is fantastic. 249 along with 232 are the best Rads, IMHO, and 690 and 587 are the best 1940 Rads.

Maybe close your eyes and think of which one comes first to your mind? Good luck with the choice!

The 690 is one I'll never part with

The 249 is a classic though as well

249 is a classic and an amazing Radiomir reference.

249 is a classic wire lug Radiomir that is pure Panerai DNA. The 690 is a more elegant design contemporary design. I have a number of Panerai and thought my collection was complete but the 690:has been weighing on my mind the last few weeks.

I prefer the 1940 case

Can’t go wrong with either choice... so the only viable solution is to get both
