AD Advertisments

This year my AD has really stepped up adverts for specific Rolex models on its social media pages.

Seems to be every other day they have a Sub or SD advertised, saying “contact us for more info”.

Yet the manager has told me that they have expression of interests in the hundreds for each model and the “list” is effectively closed.

Why do they do this? Manager told me that sorting out the list is a real pain, surely this will just cause them more hassle in long run???

Well they are closed for another month here, at least, and have been since Christmas!

Just seems odd dangling something when there are really really impatient people (me lol) waiting already.

It's "use it or lose it" funds. For key dealers (or maybe even every dealer), Rolex has co-op marketing or market development funds set aside. You tell Rolex what you are spending the money on (billboards, social media, whatever) and you have to use Rolex marketing/brand templates and follow all the co-op/MDF guidelines.

At the end of every term (quarter or year), you tell Rolex what you spent, and Rolex reimburses you (either for a pre-negotiated percentage or for the pre-determined amount for the term).

You spend it... Rolex pays you back. You don't spend it, you lose it.

A social media post on FB is super cheap to make and free to post (on your own site). If you target FB users, Rolex foots the cost.

Rolex stays top of mind with potential luxury customers and maintains their utter brand dominance. The dealer generates awareness and traffic. Win/win.

Your title pretty much says it all. It's advertisement for the AD. Get you in the door for one thing, have you leaving with another.
