Audemars Piguet Water Resistance
Hi all. I popped by the Audemars Piguet boutique today to get a new strap for my beloved AP. I decided to get a complimentary water-resistance test since it doesn't take more than 5 minutes. To my shock and disappointment, my AP ROO ref 26400SO, which was barely 3 month old from an Official AD, did not pass the test. They told me that I should send it in for a service, and anything done to the watch would be FOC as it is under warranty.
However, after blowing $46,800 Singapore Dollars on a watch, should I not be expecting quality control better than this? I am frankly a bit upset that this is an issue, and I now have to send it back to AP for 6-8 weeks. Has anyone ever experienced this? What do you guys think about this lack of QC? Is it something that I have a right to be upset about? We are talking about a 3-4 month old watch purchased in July. I need some advice!! |

I totally understand your frustration and empathize but it's a mechanical object and things like this happen although they shouldn't after 3 months. AP does the best they can but time to time some slip thru the cracks.

Look at the bright side. You prevented what could have been potentially very bad. They will fix it, you will get a free service, a nice travel box and all will be fine. Stuff happens.

Be happy you found out before something happened.
Express your disappointment w AP and maybe they'll throw in a nice watch box to smooth things over.

That's why I never bathe, shower or swim with any watch worth more than 8K, sure it's supposed to be water resistant but you never know...

Well, it would be something to be upset about if they water test at the factory before being sent to AD's. I'm assuming that's not the case, though.
My 15400 is in the water frequently and thankfully no issues. Haven't had it tested yet. I'd consider yourself very lucky finding this so early! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Get it fixed and sell it. If you are this upset about the issue you won't be happy with the AP.

Appreciate everyone's input. I have let mr Antonio Seward of AP know about this situation, and my timepiece is currently in the SC. Fingers crossed everything turns out fine! Just worried because I have actually taken my watch to the pool before!

That was a close one then! Like the others say, it's such a good thing you found out this way vs after going for a swim (the hard way). It'll be fixed and back on your wrist shortly

PP and AP case designs are not the safest in terms of WR ,all those are beautiful but might be a Rolex or a Gshock are better choice for water sports.
