Staff discount with a catch

I have a friend who works at AP. I heard from him that he could get me an AP Royal Oak for a hefty discount. However, there is a catch though. The watch will have an engraving with his initials on it. I am looking to get a SS Royal Oak. What would you guys do? Thanks in advance

Buy it and change your name so the initials match

Can the initials be polished off? If not then I would pass on the deal.

Only a good friend would do this and you should have his initials on the back.

I would think initials would be pretty easy to polish out. I bought a Rolex once with an engraving on the case back and they came right out no problem.

What about when you come to service and return to AP. Wouldn’t this get your friend into trouble if they thought he had been passing on his staff discounted watches ?

Assume the engraving is to personalise it to him and deter from selling on.

is It bad when I think of the initials engraved... I associate it with a tramp stamp?

I am not sure to what extent my friend can hold up on that deal. I could be wrong. I was just trying to get opinions of people on the forum

Sure, and disregard my previous post. I shouldn’t question the seriousness of your post.
