I personally would not buy off Chrono 24, in a lot of instances the prices they quote for their Watches surpass the retail price

I’ve bought 3 times and sold once on Chrono24.
No problems at all and very smooth. Can be a bit slow waiting for escrow to process but provides good perceived comfort.

Did you sell as a private seller?

Yea sold a Panerai as a private seller. Was relatively impressed with the tech and AML controls. It’s on the expensive side though.

Compared to ebay? Did you sell it for more than you wouldve done if you had taken it to a jewellers to sell?

Quite. Found on Internet the shop, who also proposed the watch on its own web site.

It was not far away, we agreed on a place to meet in Paris.

I could also have come to the seller's place.

Chrono24 is a great reference point. Definitely do look around at a lot of different locations on the internet. There are often times you can do better through other retailers. All depending of course on what you’re looking to buy.

i bought a few items on Chrono24 as well but have never sold one. no problem at all. you may want to check the price and compare with other sites before you ahead. at the end, depend on seller, you may suggest your price to them.

I am interested in a vintage Rolex, i recently bought a vintage Tudor and LOVE the 34mm size so am looking for an OP, Air-King, etc. It seems the prices range from £1400 to £3000+ (which i am not paying) and my local jewellers had an Air-King for £2225, which seems reasonable when compared with chrono24.

Well you can also go with EU sellers as there is no import or VAT tax between UK and EU, I have an excellent one, Rivierawatch, I bought many watches from them, and they sold my Rolexes and Pams when I grew tired of big heavy watches, the owner became a friend and is great to deal with, I vouch for them totally, if you are interested PM me I can give you his number and email.

Of course you sell for more by selling yourself than if you sell to a jewelers, the one I am talking about is pretty reasonable commission wise, I think he takes about 10% on the sales price if you leave him the watch for selling it, before it was 7% but not anymore, and he can either buy it directly for a certain price if it is an in demand piece, or you leave it to him to sell it, which is more interesting financially

Well of course as many watches are selling way over retail, 5711-12, some Rolex models, but the prices are almost always negotiable as they put higher knowing that the client will want to negotiate even if the price is a very good one.

I purchased maybe 5 watches from Chrono 24, from different dealers in different countries, France, Germany, Italy, and the transactions went very smoothly, no complaint whatsoever...

I work with a few London dealers. Don’t forget Chrono24 charge the sellers, so direct is better. Happy to help.

So the price they put on the watches on chrono24 are bumped up to swallow the fees?

They will be included. Many of the sellers will have shops where you can see the watches. Do your research and you’ll find some good sellers. Ebay can help, again as many sellers have actual businesses.

I have been going on their websites as well, but sometimes watches listed on chrono24 are not listed on their websites. As for visiting the shops, i live in Cornwall and all the shops are usually the other end of the country.

It was my PAM000 and I got a much better price than offered by two resellers/ greys by selling it directly on Chrono24. Ultimately a vendor needs to make a spread so it is what is.

Ultimately you need to price competitively to gain interest over other trusted sellers’ prices.

I’m trying to focus my collection on a few important and meaningful pieces so will use Chrono24 again to sell 2 more shortly.

don't forget eBay charges fee too....

chrono24 is specialized in watches so a good place to shop around.

problem is there is no expiry date for listing so sometime you may find watches that were listed years ago.... especially from private sellers.
