2 New clocks

Sorry I've only got a photo of one, the other one is in the mail.

1. JLC Atmos with Roman Numerals in 18K gold in the box with everything brand spankin new for $1,500 - "That's what I'm talkin about!"

2. Icom IC-7000 (see the clock in the upper right hand corner of the display) and the clock also doubles as a world wide tranceiver and a TV. "Yeah Baby!"

I'm not so sure I would prefer to have an Atmos in my living room, but time will tell.

At the moment I've got enough to contend with the IC-7000 as the instruction booklet is 150 pages and that is all English, not 10 pages English, 10 pages Italian, 10 pages Dutch etc. etc.

So all those buttons have menus and sub-menus.

I just found out today, that there is not one but 2 clocks on the Icom that can be displayed on the screen at one time. UTC time and local time I guess or however one may want to program the 2 clocks.

Now the Atmos can't do that

Cheers

Many years ago when CB was illegal in the UK I had a heavily modded Yaesu FT-101 tranceiver, with the AM and FM CB bands plus 10.11.12 and thirty meter bands.Spent many a happy hour on USB or LSB,talking to people all over the world. My call sign then was Alpha Tango 163,great past days.

Well Paul when the CB started first in the UK we were using the 27 MHz AM bands. And there were very few on, mainly truckers used them ,for reporting road blocks police speed traps etc. Then after the Smokey and the bandit movies hit the UK CB really took off.Still the illegal AM rigs now the airways were full of kids asking for your handle rig twig etc.So most of the true CB guys bought rigs with the High High bands and USB and LSB.But if you got caught there was very heavy fines,or even imprisonment. My first Side-band rig was a Ham International multimode 40 channel normal 27 Mhz 40 High, 40 High High, 40 FM and the same USB and LSB with 5 kcs in-between on sideband. Then eventualy they made CB legal on FM, with very low wattage rigs. And took all the fun out of it,now in the UK its not a huge following, and now you have to buy a licence

I would love an Atmos. How did you ever get a new one for that kind of dosh? Even the basic models retail for a few times that!

Tha Atmos is a classic in my view. It many not have the gadget factor, but it is certainly the one I would prefer! Please post pics when you get it.

Thanks!

Regarding the Atmos, I just got lucky with an auction on the internet to get that price.

It seems that some companies hand out these clocks to employees who have long service. Some such employees would rather take the cash, so they sell the clocks for what they can get.

I'll post a photo when I receive the clock.

Cheers
