I think this rhodium dial is very cool, but I tend to stay away from grey and SS together as they can all fade into one, prefer grey on gold.

- I have decided that this will be a DJ 41mm and I’m leaning towards the dark rhodium with jubilee and a fluted bezel (with a blue dial as a close second). However, in Europe (and perhaps elsewhere) getting one is getting increasingly Difficult and they are rarely / never available at dealers to view the dial in person (Waiting lists now running over 2-3 years). So I have based my preference on the pictures and this is where the dilemma comes in:

I think the rhodium dial looks absolutely stunning in some pictures, yet a bit bland / monochrome in others. Can any current owners / specialists explain to me if this is due to lighting conditions in certain pictures and offer some insights in this regard? - any input is greatly appreciated!
I was in your situation in the summer of last year when I saw a blue dial smooth bezel jubilee DJ41 and decided to get a DJ41. But then I researched it for a bit and thought I'd prefer the rhodium. Thankfully, I was able to find a dealer that had both. As soon as I had both of those in front of me I chose blue. Can't say I don't sometimes wish I went for the rhodium, but in general, I am happy.

Both blue and rhodium can look monotone from time to time, but in my opinion the rhodium dial just looks monotone more often however it looks better in those situations, whereas the blue dial very rarely looks monotone, but it doesn't suit it at all.

I've also considered both Blue and Rhodium. Seen both, but I always wanted a Blue dial Rolex and the DJ41 BLue Dial is awesome. I think it is a classic dial color. The Rhodium might be a bit more trendy, and to me it is too close to my black dial watches.

OP
I know they are hard to get, and you have your heart set on it.
Before you buy, try one on. The D41 is not 41mm across but rather 39.5mm.
Another forum member measured it with a digital measurement.
I owned the Wimbledon dial and sold it, because I thought it wore small.

Rhodium is not boring. Rhodium is the new blue. It has a character beyond black or white. It is understated and flies under the radar. Rhodium metal price is going up in the world market, similar to Platinum but that’s another discussion on another day.

Go Rhodium and never look back.

I had the fortune to see all of the available DJ41 colors back when I made my selection and the rhodium unexpectedly impressed me the most. I thought the blue would be my primary selection, but seemed too common of a watch color when I finally had seen it in person. The rhodium was unique and I appreciate watches that are a bit more subtle rather than flashy.

Besides, I already have a blue dial watch:

Rolex DJ 41mm dark rhodium dilemma

Can confirm what others have said about this dial. The lighting truly makes all the difference. I went with smooth bezel on jubilee combo and couldn't be happier.

I owned the Rhodium DJ41 for a month before trading it for a blue one. Took a small hit on the swap. Ultimately, am very glad I went for the blue. For me, the rhodium just didn't pop enough. Still...a beautiful watch by any measure...

Good luck - Ben.

I had a same dilemma last september. My AD was kind enough to order both so I could see them in real life and them make up my mind.
I chose blue one. Rhodium was stunning but my old eyes had a little cifficulties to see hands in sub optimal lighning. With blue one, hands "Pop up" more from backround and were easier to see. But… my AD told me that they can order a Rhodium dial for my blue one and change it (there have a Rolex Service also). Dial is about 350€. So don't worry, buy what you want and if you later feel that you made the wrong choice with dial, you can buy a new one. All the dials which are available to your model are possibilities. Same goes with a bracelet, about 1550€ for Jubilee.

I own both the Blue dial with fluted bezel and jubilee and the Rhodium dial smooth bezel on an Oyster bracelet .

These too combinations make them totally different watches , both of these watches dials seem to come alive in sunshine , In a dark room they can both look more like a grey or even black dial .

The fluted and jubilee combination is amazing to look at in the right light , I own just about every type of Rolex model and this is the one that you just can't help looking at when its on your wrist , I spend too much time staring at it .It's a dressy looking watch though

The other combination looks a lot more sporty and could be worn anywhere

The rhodium dial is a fantastic sunburst dial that will mesmerize you in all conditions. You really can’t go wrong with it.

I went with what Rolex call "Sundust" dial, at low light it looks like Rhodium but when ambient light goes up it change to a golden look.

Rolex does an amazing job with their blue dials. After buying the DJ41 with blue dial, I wanted the rhodium dial well. Ended up YM in rhodium dial and DJ41 in sundust dial.

Try both dials and see which one you like the best and think of wearing that watch for many years to come, and your lifestyle.
