This was mainly for the older 15 series movements,on the 3 or 4 series perhaps if you are lucky perhaps a second or so difference many will not vary .

Is this final statement intended to refer to the Dial Up, Dial Down, Crown Left, et cetera orientation of a watch?

My BLNR has gained 30 seconds in about 4 days. Mainly take it off and leave it flat but did leave it vertical with crown side down last two days. As my warranty will expire in a few months time, is that of a concern?

Anyone up for a February Accuracy Experiment?

Y-serial 16710.

I’m running 4-5 secs fast as of now. Ha.

I never take off the watch so won’t be regulating over night on the night table.

Nah. This is for fun. How about leaving it on for a couple days to see how it changes?

Like mine, your watch may naturally run on the faster side. Resting it “dial up” at night probably gains you even more seconds.

“Winding button down” may help you lose seconds, but in your case, I’d try “winding button up” to lose even more seconds.

Some members say that this Simple Regulation guide doesn’t work, and for their watches, perhaps that’s true. But for my Submariner, the technique works great, keeping my watch either completely accurate or maybe one second ahead, at all times.

I'm certainly not among the most knowledgeable here, but I suspect I should identify (in addition to watch model, movement, age) about what % of the month it was on my wrist, whether it was on a winder, and what position I left it in when it was off the wrist.
Anything else? Anyone else going to join me?

Oh man!

I would love to join you, but on Jan 1, I synchronized with my cell phone and I’m going to try to not wind and not reset the time for as long as possible to check the accuracy of my watch over a long span of time

It’s so nice to see that we think alike though!

My Exp II is usually 1-2 seconds fast each day. However, I just started trying to regulate it based on that post and it has helped a little bit. At day 7, it’s only 4 seconds fast.

1 week in...25% of the way!

Watch: Rolex Explorer II 16570
Movement: 3186
Series: V
Year: 2009
Service History: Never serviced
Variance First 7 Days: -0.4 seconds from NIST time
Timing Method: Watch Tracker App
Comments: I wear my 16570 pretty much all the time (except when working out and showering). During those times I leave it face up.
While the Watch Tracker app is convenient, it relies on the user's reactions to measure the watch's accuracy, so I'm only willing to say I nailed it +/- about a quarter of a second.

Hi John,

I have a few non hacking movements.

If I give them a little power reserve (say just 5 turns to start them) I can set and stop the movement with a little back pressure on the crown at the hour/minute adjusting position.

When the reference time matches I release the crown and make sure the movement starts with a circular movement.

Checked my 14060m today and it is -0.3 sec.

One week on and my Sub is +21 seconds. Been checking each day and its been a consistent +3 secs a day. That's roughly 16 hours on the wrist each day and 8 hours crown up each night.

0.3s/day, consistently. I have not been regulating it by position at night, I wear it while sleeping for this experiment, and never take it off.
