Air-Kings is going to be discontinued?

I was at my AD yesterday, trying to place an order for one piece. Me and my watch guy started talking, and he asked me if I have Air King in my collection, I told him that I do. He told me thats good, because if I wouldn’t have it he would suggested me to buy it because as he heard they’re going to discontinue it this year. I never heard that from anyone else before, do you think that can happen? Just curious.

Since the AD knows nothing this was a very transparent sales tactic.

I would not deal with that AD any longer

My AD told me that all Rolex watches will be discontinued this year but like many ADs they talk through where the sun dont shine. The Airking is one of Rolex longest production watches with a history of 75 years.

Although it would make sense since the Bloodhound project and Rolex are no longer affiliated. So perhaps there’s some truth to it?

My AD also had this type of insight but it is more analytical intuition than actual knowledge, if you work at something for many years you get that type of intuition plus connections to people that have this type of intuition.

The information does not leak but there are "tells" like in poker.

My AD has always given me great analysis, sometimes I took it sometimes I did not, but he was always right because he had a knowledge of the industry.

The Bloodhound Air King may be discontinued, and the Air King may be redesigned, and brought back some years later. Rolex will not stop a model with over 75 years of history. So if this happens I’m sure the discontinued Bloodhound Air King will be a sought after model for it’s unique design and colorful logo.

Sounds like a sales associate is just trying to sell an AirKing. It’s a fantastic watch and I am sure he’ll find a buyer eventually.

Goodbye bloodhound in less than 2 years. Old movement, mikgauss is old too and not popular outside of WIS. Made from explorer T-Rex spare parts. No supporting project under it, big history, but the new model is so different than the former one AK fans are not on board. It all points to discontinuation.

All hearsay but if true that’s good news. By far the weakest piece in the Rolex catalogue.

I think the Airking is one of my favorite looking Rolex models. At the risk of sounding blasphemous, I think I like the Airking better than the sub, not that the local AD has either in stock. Having said that, I also like the most uptodate, least like to break, and least likely to need servicing movements.

A favorite sales tactic of some ADs. As for the Air King, I look forward to the next iteration of this model. Personally the current version is one of the least attractive Rolex's. Like all models it will eventually get the new movement and with it hopefully an update to the dial.

I doubt there would be much outcry if the current Air King was discontinued.

I’ve grown to love the Air-King. So much in fact I just bought a brand new one. And I’m really really enjoying it. The biggest problem with the AK is not the fact that the dial is a little peculiar, or the green and yellow on the dial. The problem is it’s not a Submariner, GMT, or Daytona.
