I have one and I think the only problem is a lack of lume

And that the case is overly large and thick, and feels unbalanced compared to the bracelet. Especially when compared to the excellent proportions/aesthetics of the older air-king's.

Hah, that's a bit of an overkill. We can't depend on all salesmen to be honest all the time. It's (literally) their job to b.s., and our job to take whatever they say with a grain of salt.

Like said, AD sales tactic. I hate to say this about any watch, but if they did discontinue something like the AK it would hopefully open up some production of more in demand pieces. The AK has it’s fans and is a unique piece, I’m not advocating for it being cut.

I found the case proportions to be great. It’s got a little more thickness and 1mm more width compared to the explorer. Which, for me, adds a little more wrist presence. Same case I think as the Milgauss.

Yeh the case works well for me too, I prefer it to my DJ and I agree about it having more presence on the wrist. It’s the same case as the Milgauss as you say and that watch also works for me too

x1. It feels balance to me. Takes a little time to get use to 152 grams on your wrist...

As you mentioned the lume isn’t the best. But... I love the 3 6 9 in white gold against the matte black dial. And with the hands and triangle lumed it’s adequate. Plus. It’s true to the 3 6 9 on the previous Air-Kings. So I’m all good with. It.

If the Air-King is discontinued it will become the hottest Rolex in all the land.

And I disagree

How will you ever know when they tell the truth if it is their job to deceive?

Discontinued or not the 116900 AK is very, very interesting piece. It is now much more hard to get.

All stainless steel Rolex watches have been discontinued for 5 years now if I base it on my local ADs because all they ever have available are two tone watches with jubilee bracelets.

I for 1 hope it's discontinued. I have mine. And it wears awesome, better than my 5 digit Sub and GMT.

In other news, your AD has a list for an Air King. Never thought I would ever type that.

I picked a BNIB AK a few weeks ago in a trade. Still has the plastics on. Didn’t immediately connect with it so left all the plastics on for now. Over the weekend was thinking about wearing it for a couple of weeks to see if I warmed up to it. Then I read this thread. Now can’t decide if I should leave plastics on for added value in future trade or take them off to give it a chance. Ah first world problems. The struggle is real
