Am waiting for next generation after they sort out the typical first-issue growing pains.

Not me, but I saw my first one in the wild last week on Alligator Alley in Florida.
Ironically it was the same color, burnt orange, of the one I saw last year when they had a few C8’s touring the country at various Chevrolet dealerships. Perhaps this was one of those? My neighbor bought one when they first were introduced. He has received his build confirmation for mid-March. |

Not waiting per say.
But my buddy that owns a Chevy dealership stated that he’s got a black on black LT3 on order. And that I’d have right of refusal on it. 10k over. I still haven’t seen one yet. Or driven.

I wouldn't pay over list for any modern car. But I think you should, just for the incoming thread.

HARD pass unless it is a very rare and special first-issue paint scheme. Beware, as these first releases tend to have many bugs and problems. So it's not the price more than you're a beta tester. Been there, done that, NEVER again!

Sadly they likely won't. The engine was moved to the back because they reached the theoretical limits of 0-60 and lap times with a front engine. And, humans can't out-shift an automatic. It's all for numbers and bragging rights.
I'll drive a manual until my left knee gives out. |

I'm interested in the aluminum frame repairs...There are several different types (extruded, cast, etc.) of aluminum used to assemble them, and only some can be "repaired". If the frame gets damaged in an area made of these non repairable parts, the car is totaled.... Special aluminum welding repair training classes are now going on in every shop across the country. If only I'd invested in Alcoa when I heard about the plants they were opening a few years ago..... |

2020 Corvette
There’s been plenty of aluminum tubs around like Lotus and others.
As long as this section is straight*, all else can be fixed...the skills are already in the workforce - but will need to adapt to the GM geometry. * pic from a Lotus as example. Just bring a trailer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yep, BMW, Benz, and many others have been using the aluminum framed cars for some time now. Corvettes too, just not to today's extent. GM and their network of repair shops are on training mode. Cutting out damaged areas and properly installing "sleeves" can be used. Along with brand new cast pieces but it really doesn't take much damage, in the right place to total out one of these mid engines.
