Small world!

To be honest I just don’t think I’ve spent enough there to get a Hulk, I asked for the Hulk a year ago, but at that point I’d bought 2 Rolexes and a Cartier in a 6 month period. I haven’t purchased anything since...

Lovely AD though, they certainly know how to treat a customer. It must be very difficult to balance the desire to look after locals, against the obvious and immediate benefit in dealing with wealthy foreign customers. I’ve no idea if they do ‘bundle deals’ but I certainly wouldn’t blame them if they do.

They are a lovely bunch.

It never hurts to hope. That Hulk might turn up yet.

All the best with it.

Congratulations and the TT CHNR is stunning.

On a different note, I think MichelleP meant the pic of the OP36 you picked for your wife.

Thank you all. Most kind and appreciated.

I've only just got around to opening the box. I went to the AD watchless and wore the GMT home. I moved it out one notch on the micro adjuster with the Easylink folded in. Seems perfect. Rummaging around for the two links the AD took out, I came across the bezel protector and both tags.

Guess that means I'm an AD accredited non flipper LOL!

Nice to have for the nerd in me.

Yes, the white tag has the serial number, which I have blanked out. No, I'm not going to sell it on eBay!

Shortly after its debut I bumped into a full RG CHNR in my AD's window. I never particularly dug brown, especially on me, but the combination on the RG GMT Master was just stunning. I haven't yet seen a photograph that fully does it justice.

Having never managed to get it off my mind, I asked my AD to put me on their list for a TT CHNR around March/April last year. They told me I was at number 8 and that I could expect to get my watch in 2022 or early 23. This was fine by me. I was in no hurry and it was something to look forward to.

When we managed to get Helen an OP36 off a walk in last month, the Rolex buyer said that the next TT CHNR was mine if I wanted it. It arrived last week and we collected it today.

It is a difficult watch to photograph accurately. My effort below does it no justice, although it is interesting because of the way the bezel colours dynamically shift about in different lighting. The brown goes through a number of shades of copper and red. The black does all sorts of things, including turning invisible and looking brown. My watch has a sharply defined brown and black bezel delineated at 6 and 18 when stood still in even light. Move it about a little bit and you get a light show.

We were in the shop for nearly two hours. In that time, two groups of Chinese tourists cruised the Rolex cases looking for Daytonas. We had a long discussion on a number of diverse topics, mostly to do with horology and the usual analysis of the supply situation. I won't bother doing a "my AD told me...." thread, but what they said seemed credible.

This is the end of my Rolex collection. I have what I want and Helen has the one she wanted. I may go back again for one PM piece if I have something profit related to commemorate. Should this be the case, it won't be for a few years and the watch in question will be selected at a later date. A DD is always a strong contender, but we'll see what transpires.
Beautiful piece~ congrats!

Again, thank you all for your kind comments.

To anyone who has not seen one in the metal I would say you haven't seen it properly yet.

I guess you can say the same about any number of models but this one seems to really define the principle.

Congratulations on getting this beautiful watch, I really wanted one but the never ending wait and the recent price increase has killed any thoughts of buying. A new car is on the cards instead.

The 2020 price increase announcement is what killed the TT Sky Dweller I had on order. It made me realise that I really wanted a SS variant and that ordering a TT from my AD was settling for something I didn't really want. Odd how a few hundred on the price can trigger the realisation that you were potentially going to waste considerably more. Rolex saved me from my own stupidity on that occasion.

I bought a grey SS Sky Dweller in December, confident in the knowledge that my TT CHNR was still over a year away, possibly two, Oops. Happily, we don't order a watch, even to go on a long waiting list unless the cost is already put aside from tax paid income.

When you put the outlay for something as frivolous as a watch into the context of what else you could divert it towards and it gets you significantly closer to a car purchase, it reminds one of how lucky some of us are and how grateful I should be. And I am.
