In france it was on a charcuterie table and in portugal it was in a stew and apparently in a sausage.
It was very tender. although the part of the horse and curing would have a lot to do i'm sure. my wife claims we had it in mexico once and i'm very certain in latin america. i just eat what they offer. i'm polite like that. |

I've eaten horse meat in France. It was pretty good. IMO, you can't look at cultures different from your own through your same set of filters. What seems bizarre to you, is perfectly normal when a person of that cultures views something in their culture and vice versa.

There's this traditional Japanese dish "basashi"; it's raw horsemeat sashimi. I've tried it several times when I traveled Japan.
I didn't care for "basashi" much. I'd much prefer beef tartare if the meat has to be raw. |

When I lived in Holland as a kid they had frikandel's (sausage) made out of horse and pigeon meat that was pretty tasty. When we moved back to England I remember my parents stocking up on them to take back.

It was on the to-do list in Tokyo, but didn't get around to it.

Nothing with a mane... just my personal policy
But seriously, I'd have to be plumb out of other options before chowing down on ol' Dobbin...

Yes, I have when I was in Japan.
My ex-company used to ship B747-8Is full of live horses from Canada to Japan. They were then raised in Japan for certain amount of months so they can be sold as "Japanese Horse (meat)" domestically, horse meat dishes are very popular in Japan. |
