Rolex missing after waking up in the hospital?
I was wondering if anyone here has ever been involved in a serious car or other accident that landed them in the hospital? Only to find that when you awoke, your Rolex was missing. If so, what did you do?

I was involved in EMS for almost 30 years as a medical director and owner. Thankfully, no one ever made accusations of theft against my crews, but sadly, watches, rings and jewelry do occasionally disappear during the chaos. A few years ago, am EMT in Minnesota was busted for stealing money from the wallet of a dead teenager at a car crash scene.

To be fair, it could have come off in a crash situation and can still be floating around somewhere in there, under a seat perhaps. Likewise, could have ended up in the ambulance or hospital and I would start by checking in the car, speaking with tow truck co, then speak with the other folks involved and see. In emergency situations, a watch is first responders least concern, so may just have been cut off and set aside or came off. I hate to think it was stolen. Hope you are well.

No joke. When I purchased my YG Sub I told my wife if something happens to me and it requires an ambulance ride to the hospital, make sure my watch is accounted for.
If some here don't think the temptation to steal a 30K gold watch from an ambulance patient in a medical emergency, you are living in an alternate universe. Crazier things have happened. |

Another reason I don't wear good watches when I ride my motorcycle.
Stuff happens. On the plus side, my wife says when I croak she wants my Sea Dweller. So if anything happens to me she'll be after that watch like a bloodhound. There won't be any "hey I wonder where that watch went?" two weeks later. |

Typically the medical staff will remove possessions and they will be returned to you at discharge.
However, if "lost", either in the hospital system or from the scene of an accident - good luck. |
