Thanks AMEX

I bought my new Diver at the beginning of the year and scratched the edge of the bezel pretty good (definitely worse then the picture shows) on the tile wall in the bathroom the first week or so of having it. I would have left it but then I remembered about my American Express purchase protection that's on the credit card I used. They cover up to $1k for accidental damage on new purchases. Well, it was accidentally, so off to Clearwater it went for a new bezel.

Wow that's actually great - I should remember to do that next time I scratch an AP bezel, which is probably going to be soon!

Hopefully the service center doesn't put another scratch somewhere else

That may very well be. But at least it's back to new with minimal cost and hopefully I learned my lesson when it comes to brushing it up against something.

Amex customer service has always been fantastic, as is APs.

Really great they would even cover this. Expect they didn’t even quibble it.

Exactly. But not a great feeling spending that kind of cash and then damaging it the first week. So if the repair is covered, why not.

A pal of mine bought a 15400 new from AP a while ago, he knocked it on a door handle in the 1st few days and put a ding in the bezel. AP sent a driver 200 miles to collect it and repaired it FOC at warp speed. Who needs Amex.

Sorry the whiny man child club is currently not accepting new members due to COVID restrictions.

That’s clearly above and beyond service. Very impressive Ash.

I’m comfortable to admit that I often put my left (watch) arm behind me walking through a doorway…….especially after a few glasses of Chocolate Block

They don’t stay new-looking long. Glad your AMEX covered it.

Funny you said this! I had my ROC delivered with a scratch on one if the lugs and AP said they would fix it. They fixed it in less than a week however upon receiving it back there was a new scratch in the caseback. I chose to leave it alone since no one would see it but it drives me insane 🤣

Probably a VIP client. For the rest of us mere mortals AMEX coming though is a nice thing.

You have to be under a certain time frame for coverage.
The AMEX document needed to be filled out by AP. I originally did it myself but the claim got kicked back so the watch was sent to AP and it delayed the process a bit. I then submitted the completed document with a picture of the damage along with the quote from AP. AP still had the watch while I waited for the approval from AMEX. Once AMEX approved the claim I gave AP the okay to proceed forward with the repair. In the meantime AMEX credited my account for the $1k which is the max coverage since the claim was over $1k.

In the twenty years or so I have had AMEX I only used the coverage four times and have always been successful. This one was the most expensive with the cheapest being about $85.

Nice piece. If you saw the scratches on my 15500 you'd get a heart attack lol.

These watches were designed to be scratched. You have to definitely get used to it.

No one ever designs a watch to be scratched.

They just happen to expect scratches.

Guys, I'm all good with scratches but banging it up the way I did on a whim the first week or so I had it why not get it fixed for minimal and start all over fresh with lesson learned.

It's not my first RO or ROO. The real take away point is that AMEX is top notch when it comes to their insurane and protection for anyone else who may have an accident or issue.
