Have you brought your Patek into service within the first 5 years due to an issue?
I’m trying to gauge the difference in mechanical issues between Patek and AP. I did a poll over in the AP sub forum. I know it’s not too many people and hard to compare these numbers, but it would be interesting nonetheless
If you own a Patek, can you state whether you’ve brought it into service due to a mechanical issue within the first 5 years of ownership? |

Both my AP and PP are long overdue for a service. Was due in 2019 but since Covid, even the AD’s recommend that I wait until pandemic ends. Because they had to send the watch back to Swiss. Cant be done here
Oh but no issues on both watches. Aside from gaining/losing time. Dunno by how much. I rarely wear them since lock down |

Not at all. My pateks, all with the 324... movement, have been as close to perfection as I could have expected.

No personal PP experience but the one of the keys to ownership is patience in the service process according to a local PP AD.

Yes. 5726/1a AC.
The month dial got stuck between two months during first year of ownership. Went into service for ~6 weeks. Covered under warranty. |

Yup. My 5711 blue ran up to 10s slow depending on position at night. Decided to get it regulated before the warranty expired. All good. Took about 4 weeks and since it has been running 2s slow. Most importantly, the local Patek Service Center did not mess up the case in the process.

Yes. Manual wind chrono after 4 years.
Service has been above expectations in my experience.

Date wheel on my 5980 went on me within two years of last service. It got stuck and I could not advance it with the pushers.

No issues with my Patek but I’ve only owned them for less than 2 years.
I did buy an AP 15400ST Black back in 2016 and it has needed two services for running slow then an issue with the date wheel. AP Clearwater was great and paid for shipping both ways and both services were covered by warranty. But it gives me the impression the movement isn’t as durable as a Rolex. |

Yes but only for dial imperfections. Rather significant none the less.
I have had movement issues with probably half the AP I’ve owned but AP fixes them in 3-4 weeks whereas PP seems to take longer.

Dial took several months. Movement issue, surprisingly was resolved in less than two months for me.

My 2014 5167 was running slow within the first 6 months. Dropped it off at HS NYC and they did a fast service (maybe a month? I forget). They reported that there was debris in the movement.

Yeah they got rid of the DD module chrono since thank god. It was always causing trouble. I also had a sticking date 15202. Honestly I can accept issues if they are ironed out in a month. Comes with the territory when you buy anything not a Rolex or seiko lol

Some of you may recall my 5711 went in for having badly aligned 12 o’clock hash marks and came back a month later with a missing 9 minute dot lol

5167 - sticking date after 2 years of occasional wear. Took 6 weeks to fix it.

5205 owner. After one year, it was running 35 seconds fast a day. It went in for service and now is very accurate.
Just short of 4 years, the month wheel is off. In my opinion, ridiculous. |

Won't vote as I don't own a Patek yet but have never sent any of my watches for service ever (Baume et Mercier, AP 15400, Breitling chronomat 44b01, rolex yachtmaster, cartier santos from 1990 and iwc mark xviii). The date gets occasionally stuck on the BM and the cartier and BM occasionally run a bit fast but it doesn't really bother me.

Had a date stuck issue on my 5711 right before the warranty expired. It took them 8 weeks to fix but a full service was included.

I had the date issue three times in the warranty period on my 5711, Patek had the watch more than I did

Manual winding Calatrava. Mainspring broken after 10 years but it had been worn only once or twice a year. I wound the watch from time to time.
